What an eventful weekend of fishing!
The weekend started out with Seth Furmanek Fishing and I heading down to Yuma for the Skinner Baits open where we had a chance at taking home over $20,000. The River was very challenging this time around but we felt good going into the tournament Saturday morning. We ended up getting on some of the best fishing I’ve been on in a long time for roughly 30 minutes which quickly changed to some of the toughest fishing all year. We landed 11th out of over 100 teams with 15.92 pounds. Shoutout to the Skinner Baits crew for putting on a great event! In addition I wanted to give a huge shoutout to Ernesto Cibrian for helping us source the baits that put all of our fish in the boat!
A normal person would call it a weekend but I made the drive all the way from Yuma to Roosevelt for one last day before our fishin48 tournament this coming weekend. I have to admit I was pretty beat and would have much rather slept in when it was time to get up but we got after it anyways. This ended paying off in a big way when my dad landed his new personal best at 10.85 pounds! I felt like we were on the cusp of running into a true giant soon so it was awesome to finally get one! It was even better that my dad was the one who pulled it off and officially became part of the double digit club!
I caught all of my fish Saturday and my dad caught the giant yesterday on the IROD Fishing Air and Quercus line. They are extremely light and sensitive in addition to being a great price point. Make sure to check them out at Copperstate Tackle.
We will be back at it this Saturday for the last Fishin48 tournament of the season so I’m hoping we can find a few more big ones like this!
