🔨 The Custom Deck Guys Are Hiring Lead Deck Builders

Position: Lead Deck Builder / Crew Leader
Pay: $25 – $37+ per hour equivalent

Typical Job Locations: Within 30–40 minutes of Liberty Township, OH

The Custom Deck Guys are expanding and looking for experienced deck builders capable of leading custom deck construction projects with professionalism, efficiency, and strong attention to detail.

We specialize in high-end custom decks and outdoor living structures, delivering skilled, professional craftsmanship on every project. Our projects are professionally designed, permitted, and built to strict quality standards.
We are looking for builders who take pride in their work, communicate effectively, and can manage projects responsibly from start to finish.

Responsibilities

• Lead the construction of custom decks from framing through final completion

• Read and follow project plans, layout details, and specifications

• Maintain an efficient, organized, and safe job site

• Operate professional carpentry tools safely and effectively

• Communicate with customers during the project to confirm details and preferences when necessary

• Provide clear updates on project progress when needed

• Coordinate and communicate effectively with team members and company management

• Ensure all work meets The Custom Deck Guys’ construction and quality standards

• Maintain a clean and professional job site
Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of deck-building or similar structural carpentry experience

• Ability to run a job site and lead a small crew

• Must own the standard tools required to build a deck

• Reliable transportation (truck preferred)

• Strong work ethic and attention to detail

• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions

• Strong communication skills with customers and team members
Specialty tools such as track saws, concrete mixers, and other large equipment can be provided when required.

What We Offer

• $25 – $37+ per hour equivalent depending on experience, efficiency, and capability

• Steady year-round project volume

• Each crew leader is expected to complete approximately 15–25 deck projects per year

• Opportunity to take ownership of projects and grow with the company

• Specialty tools available when required

The Custom Deck Guys are industry leaders in custom deck construction, serving the Greater Dayton and Cincinnati areas. We are dedicated to delivering exceptional quality and craftsmanship and are seeking experienced, reliable individuals to join our team as full-time Deck Builders. (Must have Minimum of 3yrs Experience building decks or similar structures)

Position: Lead Deck Builder

Location: Greater Dayton and Cincinnati Areas

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $35.00 per hour, based on experience, skills, and resources

Expected Hours: At least 40 hours per week (weather permitting)

Schedule:

- Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM
- Saturdays may be required due to weather conditions and project schedules
- Year-round work, with no winter break

Responsibilities:

- Lead the construction of custom decks, ensuring all work adheres to project specifications and design plans.
- Operate and maintain a variety of hand and power tools safely and efficiently.
- Oversee the work of laborers, providing guidance and direction to ensure tasks are completed accurately and efficiently.
- Manage the job site, coordinating tasks and resources to maintain a productive workflow.
- Load, unload, and move materials, including lifting 80 lb Quikrete bags.
- Ensure all safety protocols are followed, promoting a safe working environment.
- Inspect completed work to ensure it meets The Custom Deck Guys' quality standards and client expectations.
- Communicate with team members to troubleshoot issues and implement solutions quickly.
- Maintain a clean and organized job site, ensuring tools and materials are stored properly.

Requirements:

- At least three years of deck-building experience.
- Proven track record with completed projects; please provide photos with your resume.
- Dependability and punctuality are a must.
- Must be able to work in various weather conditions, including hot summers and cold winters.
- Physical ability to perform strenuous tasks and lift heavy materials.
- Must have reliable transportation. Having your own truck and tools is highly valued and will increase earning potential.
- Strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to lead and work well in a team environment.
