Most people just see the finished job, the clean yard, the trimmed tree, the big removal handled safely. But for me, this isn’t just work… it’s been a lifelong path.
I grew up in this industry.
My dad started doing tree work back in the 80s, working in line clearance and storm response... the kind of work where you’re out all night helping restore power after major storms. I remember as a kid watching him head out during storms like the ‘94 ice storm, knowing people were counting on crews like his to get things back up and running.
By the late 90s, he moved into residential tree work, working with well-known companies around Memphis, running crews, operating on crane crews, and continuing storm work. Tree work wasn’t just his job it was quite literally what our family revolved around.
I was about 5 years old when I first got put to work... nothing crazy, just helping on the ground, holding ropes, dragging small limbs. But that’s where it started for me. By the time I was 8, I was doing full groundwork, helping climbers, tying on equipment, and keeping jobs running smooth. Honestly, back then I was the only ground guy on a lot of the jobs.
In kindergarten, for career day, I wore one of my dad’s work shirts and said I wanted to be a “tree man.” That never changed. By my teenage years, I was running saws and getting deeper into the trade. And in high school, I even did my senior project on becoming an arborist and I stuck with it.
I’ve worked in different towns, ran a business, learned other trades, and eventually came back home to Memphis. I spent years working with experienced crews, including the same company my dad once worked for, where I sharpened my climbing skills, learned advanced rigging, became crane certified, earned my Class A CDL, and worked my way up to running crews as a foreman.
Me and my father worked side by side running different crews for about 6-7 years at that same company.
About 4 years ago, I took the leap and went all in on my own.
Since then, it’s grown into something I’m proud of....not just a business, but a solid team of skilled guys who care about doing things the right way. It helps that ive teamed up with another local tree service as well thay is family oriented and exceptionally experienced as well.
