Ida need a number on us. Just trying to get through day by day. A foot of water on the first floor and everything under water in basement and garage. The German lost his beloved Rosie the lawnmower and 6 years of work washed away.

The German is still obsessing on Lantern Flies. He is fighting a losing battle I'm afraid. I had plans to sand the doors but then a heat wave... On a good note, I have a clean house. This almost never happens.

Tiny bathroom complete. Until the other one gets done and we rip this one out. This hurt the German badly, not being able to do what he would have wanted, but I had to remind him this is currently our ONLY bathroom. I never thought in a million years I could live in a house with only one bathroom, but you learn to adjust. Unremarkable as it looks, it does what we need it to.

I kinda want to leave it like this. We're debating.

The American (me) is very proud of herself. Keeping her unemployed self busy. Because the German has been so busy with his job, I've had to step up and start doing some projects. With his tutelage of course. I used Citristrip to remove all the paint, sanded, cleaned and linseed oiled some 🚪s. Made a few mistakes like leaving the Citristrip container out in the sun (bad idea) and was a little rough with removing the paint, but otherwise it turned out great. Like the other door in the livingroom we decided to not paint it. 300 (1720) year old doors have stories and we didn't want to hid them. The other door isn't finished, but we will try 2 doors at a time in different stages. Another one is off the hinges and ready to get started. All doors leading to rooms will be painted antique white and doors to closets will be left unpainted. Most of those doors are one the other side of the house (1835)

So. There is a reason for no recent updates. If the German has his mind occupied on other things and loses interest, things sit. Bathroom is stil not finished. My gentle nudges only have so much effect. His latest obsession is killing spotted lantern flies. He's at it ALL DAY. My skincare routines suffer without a bathroom sink and my patience is wearing thin. He promises it will be done in the next few days..

The German HATES fixes. If he had a choice and the other bathroom, he would have ripped everything out. He hated the tub surround as he thinks they are for lazy people. And hated puting in cheaper faucets. Doesn't make sense to go expensive when it will all be ripped out anyway. Next is the new faucet for the sink as that is leaking too. Hopefully when he moves the vanity there's not a rotten hole in the floor. There's little things he's doing, but I have a shower and all is good.

Let's be reminded that this is currently our only bathroom.
