Halloween a couple of years ago and a crane job I did as a contract climber. It had already been limbed and topped, but it was still about 140’ of trunk. Did it in 9 picks as I recall.

First tree of a big job I contracted on a couple of weeks ago. I did 5 removals and 5 trims. 4 of those were over 100’ like this cedar, which was also over the lines, as was its neighbor which I also did.

I don’t round file as often these days, but I file teeth back to nearly nothing. Probably the last time for this chain, but I’ve been using it over a year. It ate too, but I bisected an 8 penny nail on the second cut.

Whether it’s big, technical removals over structures, light trims of front-yard show trees, fire fuels reduction, large or small-scale logging, commercial lot clearance, high-voltage power line clearance, storm damage mitigation, dead or compromised trees, or certified arborist consultation, has the experience and skill to handle it. I began my tree career as a groundsman for a small, residential tree company in Atlanta, Georgia, at 27 years old in 2006. Since then, my propensity to push myself, learn, and travel has enabled me to continuously improve in knowledge and techniques, safety protocol and job site management. I have practiced my craft in 10 states and with many colleagues, all of whom I’ve learned from. Post-fire tree mitigation east of Salem and east of Estacada brought me to the beautiful PNW in 2020. Im 2023 I became a qualified wildland fire timber faller, and I am now proudly serving the region, based in PDX.

From the ice storm of 2023. A little crane picking of trees out of a house. A group of fir fell on this house and obliterated it. We were cutting trees out of bathrooms and hallways and living rooms and kitchens. It’s fun because it’s different and exciting and a big skill booster.

From the ice storm on the PDX area in early ‘23. This was one of the worst weather events I’ve ever seen in terms of lots of big trees down over a wide area. We were working from 6am to about 9-10pm for 6 weeks straight.

I’ve done lots of storm work over the years. This was after a hurricane on Maui in 2018. Hurricanes are rare there but I’ve been through a few.

I haven’t done a ton of crane work, but I have done an appreciable amount. One of my first ones was this ponderosa in California in 2019. It was tall. I remember asking the crane operator how high I was after the first two picks and he said I was at 167’ at that point. I’m grateful for the diversity of tree work that I’ve been able to do.

Before and after of one of the tallest trees I’ve ever climbed, and I went all the way to a high tie-in at the top too. It’s hard to see, but this co-dominant eucalyptus on Maui was overhanging some 69kv transmission lines. I trimmed off the overhang. If you look closely you can see that those colorful specs on the ground around the tree are men. Idk how tall it was, but it was every bit of 200’ and maybe more.

Found this big old beehive in a hollow oak in California during my Arborworks days. Got a lot of honey out of it. Sometimes I find interesting things in trees.
