We will post something if we find a replacement. Thank You!! In the kitchen of a small Belgian settled community of Ghent, Minnesota, you might hear Flemish rolling from the tongue of man who is about to flip a long handled cast-iron “Lukken Yzer,” as he finishes his first batch of “Lukken” or Belgian Cookies. He wipes his brown and says “Only 8 more to go!”
While using his old fashioned Belgian
Cookie Iron, or “Lukken Yzer,” for many years, Daniel “Danny” Verkinderen was presented with the opportunity to start selling them himself. Embracing his full Belgian heritage, Danny sold his first Belgian Cookie Iron in 1981 and his business only grew from that point on. In 1993 or 1994, with the encouragement of his wife Arlene, Danny started to think of how he could make more than one Lukken at a time. Putting his strong Belgian work ethic, creativity and entrepreneurial spirit to work, Danny developed and patented a cookie plate that could be interchanged with the grates of an electric waffle maker. Production went from 1 Lukken to 4 Lukkens thus increasing the rate at which these wonderful Belgian treats could be shared. Now about 21 years later, Dan Verkinderen’s Belgian Cookie Iron business lives on and continues to offer the same service it did when it was founded. Through the work of his son Scott and nephew Greg Differding, Danny’s Belgian Cookie Irons continue to make great additions to anyone’s household, especially around the holiday seasons. Place your order for an original Cast-Iron Stovetop Belgian Cookie Iron or an Electric Belgian cookie It’s almost as if you can smell the irons heating up once the winter season rolls around. Which reminds me, it’s about that time…I have to go warm mine up now! Enjoy your eating or “Smakelijk eten!!”
Send us a message if you have any questions and we will make sure we will get back to you… although give us about 30 seconds to remove our cookies from the iron! No one wants burnt cookies!
