Building Deconstruction Crew Member for a Short Term decon in Ronan and Charlo, MT

Job Description: Heritage Timber is deconstructing two large wood buildings for reuse. Work is from ground to up to the top of the third floor and roof, removing materials with strategic hand tools and muscles. Involves a lot of bending and prying, as well as carrying and sorting of materials. You must have good workboots and appropriate clothing. We provide all other safety equipment and tools.

Duration: Up to twelve weeks. Starting as early as May 26, 2026.

Pay: $25 an hour.

we didn’t think getting a hybrid vehicle was gonna be possible, but then we realized we can just get rid of one of our other vehicles and plan a little smarter. Super grateful.

If you are vewy vewy quiet, you can hear my brain dissecting this building and evaluating its decon potential.

This old shotgun cabin is in the same watershed as our lumberyard, in one of the sweetest western towns in Montana. The years have taken their toll, and the site will be used as a business home base, and we are sooo grateful that the owner chose us to save the materials and give them a new life.

That back end of the house grey rough sawn 1x sheathing may be the flattest boardsI I have seen in twenty years! We will remove the roof metal for the owner to keep, and save all the wood we can.

We deconstructed this 7500 ft.² tall metal gym with a 2500 square-foot awning with a whole lot of sweat, tears, planning, and grit. It was filled to the brim with hotel furniture, and other curiosities. And now not only is it all down and sold, but it’s already to its new owner beginning its new life.

We’re so proud of our crew for working so hard, grateful to the .missoula and for choosing us to deconstruct these buildings, and thankful to the new owners for supporting reuse.

We’re also super thankful to and others for helping us to get so many materials back in the reuse stream.
