šŸ—“ļø The first half of the year has been a whirlwind—here’s the highlight reel:

MARCH
Presented a participatory activity at during a Lessons for Recovery event, then practiced my twine-making session with the makers group at

APRIL
Took the twine workshop to the conference in Montgomery, AL (yes, Mercury retrograde made a cameo).

MAY
Installed my tile mural at , featuring portraits of student hands in hospital care—tiles crafted in collaboration with the Colorado-based
Later that month, I facilitated an activity at the Grief & Joy Gathering hosted by , where community members placed fabric strips—each representing a personal wish or worry—on a temporary fence in the River Arts District.

JUNE
At Warren Wilson College’s Collaboration for Climate Action summit, attendees from tied fabric strips onto mesh forms. These pieces were added to the same fence, extending our participatory installation—a powerful test of modular public art that connects people, even offsite.

šŸ™ Thanks for sticking with me. Stay tuned—more to come.

Proof of Life: I’m here. I’ve been working on school and life IRL. The past few days we were in Lake City, SC enjoying . I was also able to have some good meetings with folks who will help me with research for my capstone project this fall. (I’m on track to graduate from ’s MA program in winter 2023). I’m posting from the road as we head back to NC. I thought it’d be nice to share some of the work I enjoyed the past few days. If you are visiting , be sure to vote for the People’s Choice award. You can vote for as many pieces as you want, but there’s only one vote per person, per piece šŸ—³ļø

Finally grabbing a mini break after the summer professional seminar at school šŸ˜µā€šŸ’« Last Saturday I went down to the Center of Greenwood for the South Carolina Festival of Flowers show that was juried by April Dauscha. I was so surprised to find that I had won 2nd Place in the show. This is one of the most interesting, textural shows I’ve seen in an upstate SC venue like this. It will be up until August 11th, so you should go to see it!

The Index-Journal published the list of winners and a little bit of the juror’s statement. Including: Carey Morton, Emily Clanton, Dylan Bannister, Andrew Cho, Ashley Dever, Jessica Swank, Lucy Cassidy, and Asma Nazim-Starnes.

Just got word that I will have work on display at ReCraft Greenville’s inaugural series of Upstated. I will also have an installation on display at the South Carolina Festival of Flowers show at The Arts Center of Greenwood.

(I’d take part in this year’s , too, but that weekend is a big school project deadline.)

Both shows will be a lot of fun with totally vibes.

(If you need extra incentive to visit Greenwood, The Mill House pizza restaurant is a hidden gem that’s a short walk from the museum!)
