A little personal and vulnerable post today...

On Saturday, I was home alone eating lunch when a piece of food became lodged in my throat.

There was no coughing. No air moving in or out. No ability to call for help.

In that moment, I realized just how quickly an ordinary day can turn into an emergency.

Thankfully, I remembered that you can perform the Heimlich maneuver on yourself. Using the back of a kitchen chair, I was able to dislodge the food and start breathing again.

I'm sharing this because I never thought I would need that knowledge, and yet it may have saved my life.

Please take a few minutes to learn what to do if you or someone else is choking. We spend time preparing for so many things in life, but emergencies rarely happen when we're ready for them.

Today, I'm incredibly grateful for something I usually take for granted—a simple breath.
