Hello everyone! Thank you for liking this page.
The Happy Harvesters Gardening Club is for students at Concordia College to be more engaged with the organic garden on campus, Cornucopia. Located on the corner of 11st St S and 12th Avenue in Moorhead (near the Concordia soccer field), Cornucopia was established in 2012 with a mission to educate the community about food production that is healthy, environmentally sustainable, and practical in a manner that encourages active engagement to lessen our global footprint.
Each year, student interns are hired to plant and tend to the garden. This year, two interns, Kaya Baker '17 and Sam Ferguson '17, decided to establish a gardening club to encourage more student, faculty, and staff interaction with the garden. The garden club will plan events at the garden that will be fun, interactive, and educational.
Examples of possible events include:
- Garden and High Tunnel tours
- Planting seeds in the Spring/early Summer
- Harvesting in the Fall
- Yoga in the Garden and/or High Tunnel
- Education on how to start your own garden
- (Your idea for an event goes here!)
Disclaimer: This club is not an established/approve club at Concordia, yet. Because we are in the early stages of developing the club, we are very open to new ideas. We will be tabling in the atrium on Monday, March 21st in order to understand what students on campus want to see from the gardening club. Stop by the atrium to let your voice be heard!
