Not every modern building code change is about looks. Sometimes it’s about keeping your family safe.

Today’s code requires outlets to be installed directly into the countertop surface, particularly on islands and peninsulas that don’t have a backsplash available. Is it everyone’s favorite aesthetic choice? NOPE. But it helps reduce the need for extension cords and keeps power safely accessible where people actually use it most. Function first. Safety always.

Not all engineered hardwood is created equal… and this is where people accidentally cheap out 👇

That top layer of real wood? That’s called your wear layer.

And the thickness of that layer determines one very important thing:

👉 Can you refinish your floors later… or not?

A thinner wear layer might look great today, and save you money upfront.
But in 10 to 15 years, when life happens and those floors take a beating… you may not have enough material to sand and refinish.
