My father in law’s horse was in need of some immediate shade. It’s been 100 plus for a couple of days. So ….
🚜 one tractor +one round bale + zero engineering degrees = problem solved

I wish farmland never disappeared.

I wish every child knew where their food came from.

I wish more people could feel the peace that comes from standing in a pasture at sunset.

I wish we weren’t always in such a hurry to get to the next thing.

I wish we trusted seasons more than schedules.

I wish we remembered that growth takes time—whether it’s a field of millet, a herd of cattle, or a life well lived.

Until then, I’ll keep finding hope out here where the grass grows, the cows graze, and the setting sun reminds me that some things are still worth waiting for.

Getting up early to work on me and my new goals and dreams. I’ve spent 25 years dedicated to being the best teacher I could be for my students and loved every minute of it (well …. Maybe not every minute but most of them 😉). Im so excited for my new journey but also having time to stop and enjoy moments like this one. Just me and Max cooling off under a shade tree after a “just because I wanted to” ride. Just like that … I’m loving life (even more) again.

Hey.

Still here.

Hey.

Still spoiled.

Hey.

Still convinced every bottle belongs to her.

Hey.

Still the little calf who stole thousands of hearts after her mama wouldn't claim her.

Hey.

Just checking in to remind everyone that Opal is doing just fine. ❤️🐮

I’ll just be over here playing with my baby calf. Leave a message.

Opal, named after my Grandma’s sister, has figured out the mealtime routines. Her favorite meal of the day is her breakfast. I’m going to have two bottles ready next time I feed her. Thanks because she is one hungry little lady.

Baby Opal is doing great!! She got to spend some time in the pasture with a couple of our other weaned calves today.

When she was born we thought she was a he but quickly saw she had an outie ….. not a wee wee 🤪

I’m so glad because now she can become a part of our herd. After all these bottle feedings I’m kind of partial to her 🐂❤️.

Did you know North Carolina is the only state to have a state toast? I didn’t until I began to display my collection of old state toast art in my kitchen. Our property sits in NC and SC (hence Borderline Farm) so I wanted to find some SC ones. Nope - not going to happen. Guess I’ll just have to keep hunting the dusty shelves of every antique store to find more to add to my collection. The State You're In

Here’s to new beginnings. I’m excited for this new season of my life. I will always be a teacher at heart and I already have ideas on how to bridge my two loves - agriculture and education for the children in my community. The world needs to understand how important our farmland is and where our food comes from. Now more than ever!
