Did you know chickens do make friends in the coop as well as the ability to recognize up to 50 human faces? How cool! 🤯

According to The Humane League, United Kingdom- “Being sentient means you can experience physical and emotional feelings such as pain, pleasure, joy, and grief. Chickens, like other animals, are clearly sentient. But beyond that, evidence shows chicken are sensitive, intelligent, and socially complex. They can do basic maths, use basic reasoning, can learn from each other, form preferences, as well as experience some of the same emotions as humans.” 🤔

Farm Miracles Happen! 🌾🚜

This year was hard for us! At the beginning of the year we got a bird who was infected with MG, rather than chance anyone else’s flock we put down our entire flock and started over. It was a loss but it was the best thing to do to make sure we did good business with everyone and no other flocks were infected.

In the middle of the year someone came and stole 50+ hens we had hatched, bought, and were breeding for our farm. We filed reports but nothing was looked into and we had to really rethink what to do. We came up with the idea of just a quail farm and to do a key tag fundraiser, unfortunately we did not receive any orders.

What is better than orders? Previous customers and friends donating a few eggs and a couple laying birds to get us back on our feet. When we were down the farming community and people I had served in the past were the ones to help us get back up. These are good people and we are so blessed.

These eggs were donated to me from a previous customer. I hatched all these eggs great grandparents- this is our original quail bloodline back in our hands that we specifically ordered for unique variations and egg size/color. You’ll see blue tinted speckled eggs and large jumbo quail eggs. These are going into the incubator tonight and we are officially starting up again! In 20 days be on the look out for hatchling videos!

It’s a humble start to what we are used to, before the theft I was incubating 300 eggs at a time. But a small step is a still a huge step for a farm that has been standing still. THANK YOU TO OUR SUPPORTERS AND DONATIONS! It means more than we could ever say!
