Hello all, unfortunately I'm writing to update all of you about my health - I have experienced rapid degenerative changes in my knees (possibly brought on by flu+shingles in close succession). Both knees were injured in 2018 at work, but while I've had to make accommodations I've managed since then without debilitating difficulty. That started changing a couple of months ago, now my mobility is restricted and pain management is difficult. So my plans for the season are uncertain for now. In the meantime I'm looking for a docked situation in new england for us so I can stay with Rosalind - any and all leads/contacts/hunches etc would be very much appreciated. I'm hoping not to need that for long but it depends on the time frame of my treatment,  which is still uncertain. Hoping to find something from mid may onwards for any available length of time- LOD 40’, beam 13’, draft 6’. Thank you all for your patience and continued support.

Well. This winter has been a lot - two blizzards, have been iced in repeatedly, have had the flu twice, and now am recovering from shingles. But! Happy St. Piran's day (Rosalind's first in the water in many years), to one and all! Starting to emerge from hibernation, more to follow as I get spring refit underway.

In all seriousness, this path is not for everyone! It's been a long 8 years and it's taken a lot out of me in every sense. But for me, with my background, my temperament, and her historic and cultural significance it was worth all of it.

It's been a wild year. Tuna and I are now living aboard at a wharf for the winter, picking away at projects and planning for the spring/summer (and continuing to process all that has come to pass). Thank you all for following, much more to come. -Andrew, Tuna, and Rosalind

Had a great passage to Greenport last week. "New" engine performs well. Saw .surprise , the electric cooking setup was christened, sailed in strongest conditions so far which she handled beautifully (and powerfully), first overnights on the hook, and set the mizzen topsail for the first time on the way back to mystic. And successfully moored in the dark. 10/10.

Introducing Nefret, Rosalind's "new" Perkins/westerbeke frankenengine. Amelia, the venerable 4108 off of 's victoria, is deceased. As it turns out she wasn't actually a propulsion engine, but originally a generator- so it may be that upgrading her injection pump from one that could only do 1880 rpm to one that could do 3k rpm stressed something internally. There was also a blockage in the oil system, somewhere. In any case, my dear friend Russ was enormously kind and donated a serviceable 4107 block to the cause- this combined with parts from Amelia, another 4108, and another 4107 has resulted in a working engine. has been a huge help both with teardown/assembly and with Amelia's removal. More on that to follow.
For the curious, Nefret consists of:
#1 4107 block, fuel injection pump, injectors etc
#1 4108 heat exchanger, fuel filter housing, raw water pump, fresh water pump, crankshaft pulley, flywheel, drive plate, thermostat housing, starter, bell housing adapter
#2 4107 oil filter mount, lift pump
#2 4108 bell housing, rear plate, oil cooler

If anyone in the mystic area would potentially be interested in crewing on shakedown sails, message me on here or at [email protected]. Not sure exactly what level of physical fitness is required, but it's definitely demanding so keep that in mind. Cheers!
