If you’re expecting the usual pumpkin orange and predictable rust this fall… think again. 
 
My predictions as shared with Better Homes & Gardens ? Fall 2026 is going deeper, moodier and much more sophisticated. I’m so excited to incorporate these elevated moody hues into future designs!  
 
The bigger shift I’m seeing is away from “decorating for fall” and toward creating warm, layered interiors that simply happen to feel incredible in autumn. 
 
Think rich color, aged woods, natural textures, beautiful fabrics and a little bit of moodiness.  
 
And honestly? I’m here for it.

In a world where digital renderings and 3D technology have transformed the design process, I still rely heavily on hand sketching to communicate a vision.

A quick sketch can convey what words sometimes can’t — the proportion of a built-in, the placement of a light fixture, the scale of a piece of furniture, the relationship between architectural details, or exactly how a custom element should be executed.

For me, hand sketching is where a concept starts to become tangible. It bridges the gap between an idea in my head and the finished space my clients, contractors, and tradespeople can bring to life.

Some of the most important design details still begin with a pencil.

One of my favorite design publications, House Beautiful recently asked me to share my recommendations for exterior paint colors I’d recommend leaving behind along with horror stories for those offenders ha!  
 
As a designer, I love that exterior paint can have such a powerful impact on the overall character of a home. The right color can highlight architectural details, complement existing materials, and create a timeless first impression. 
 
I’m especially honored to be featured in a publication I’ve admired for so long. House Beautiful has always been one of those design magazines I genuinely love to pick up and get lost in—and being part of the conversation is such a treat.

BEFORE & AFTER POST: A laundry room may be one of the hardest-working spaces in the home, but that doesn’t mean it can’t feel elevated and luxurious. This drab and dated Laundry Room at the Vardon Project for a major overhaul - down to the studs!  
 
My top 3 tips for creating a laundry room that’s both glam and functional: 
 
1. Invest in beautiful storage. Custom cabinetry, integrated hampers, and concealed utility areas keep everyday essentials organized while maintaining a polished look. 
 
2. Layer in luxurious finishes. Think statement wallpaper by York Wallcoverings , warm brass hardware by Top K***s , stone countertops by MSI Surfaces , and decorative lighting by Hudson Valley Lighting that make the space feel intentionally designed. My absolute favorite feature in this updated Laundry Room is this stunning mosaic tile by alisonvictoria for The Tile Shop  
 
3. Style with purpose. Decorative glass jars for holding detergent, pops of greenery, and thoughtfully chosen accessories such as soft hand towels and a soft fold Roman shade add personality without sacrificing function. 
 
The secret? Treat your laundry room with the same design attention as the rest of your home. Because everyday routines deserve beautiful spaces too.

There’s something especially fun about designing a reading nook, as I recently shared with Real Simple magazine. Not because it’s grand or expansive, but because it’s all about the details. 
 
The perfect chair. A soft, layered textile. A little table for a cup of coffee. A beautiful lamp that casts just the right glow. A favorite piece of art, a stack of well-loved books, and a few collected objects that make the space feel personal. 
 
A reading nook is a reminder that good design is about creating a moment that allows one to get lost in the pages. A small, thoughtful space designed to slow down, get comfortable, and stay awhile.

Apparently, even as a toddler, I couldn’t resist everything perfectly balanced. Looking back, it’s funny how the little things can hint at the passions that shape our future.

I didn’t discover that interior design would become my career until much later in life. Starting my own design firm wasn’t part of some lifelong plan—it grew from a genuine love for creating beautiful, intentional spaces that make people feel at home. And from the inspiration of my parents who, for as long as I can remember, were dreamers and doers (and who happened to build/design some incredible homes for our family growing up!)

Now, I have the privilege of transforming homes every day, blending timeless design with thoughtful details, balanced compositions, and yes… maybe just a little obsession with symmetry.

It’s a reminder that sometimes the seeds of our greatest passions are planted long before we realize what they’ll become.
