Cotton & Moss

Cotton & Moss Sharing engaging experiences & quality goods dedicated to a gardener's lifestyle. Focused on quality, sustainability, and made in the USA as much as possible.

Everything comes full circle. At a young age, I was drawn to becoming a designer in the fashion industry. After having worked in the industry for 10 years, I came to realize the many issues that come along with designing and manufacturing in the fashion industry, both environmentally and ethically. I think back to a time when my dad was empowering USA factories and their workers, only to see them

slowly diminish. Maybe this was always in the back of my head. With this knowledge, accompanied with my love of gardening, I began to realize how symbiotic the relationship is between farming and fashion. This is how Cotton & Moss was born. Cotton & Moss is a site dedicated to interviews and stories of people creating a positive impact in the apparel, accessories and farming industries, whether it be brands, mills, farmers, or factories. I'd like to shift the way a customer thinks about buying a product and engage them in the process. My goal is to create a more sustainable, lifestyle product offering where consumers have peace of mind and support in their buying decisions. Cotton & Moss will provide small and special product launches throughout the year. My design experience spans companies such as Gap, J.Press, Gilded Age, and Oshkosh B'gosh. After graduating from Pratt Institute with a BFA, I continued my education with horticulture courses at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. Having spent 15 years in Brooklyn, New York, I now call Nashville, Tennessee my home. It only feels right after many summers spent in Tennessee as a child.

I call this the “craft while they nap” edition. I made this in record time = 1 hr & for only $10! Curious how can you too? See below:

1. Cedar branches from Home Depot or scraps from your yard or Christmas tree
2. 1-2 naval oranges dried in your oven
3. Pinecones from your yard or pick up a few from a local craft store
4. Reuse an old wreath frame or buy a metal frame (*hot tip you can get these from Dollar General)
5. Floral wire

I didn’t use a drop of glue!

We just bought our first veggie starts for the new house and it’s certainly made me miss our little garden at the old place. This is a before & after from our first season a few years ago.

With little time on our hands to build beds right now we’ll be using our buckets & containers this season. I’ll share more about our space and starts soon. I hope your getting started too, now is the perfect time in TN!

"My garden is my most beautiful masterpiece." - Claude Monet

I've been quieter around here as we prep to move away from this sweet place that we have called home for 5 years. I'm taking some time to reflect on how it started and sharing a fraction of what we were able to harvest from this land. From juicy tomatoes to sweet figs to huge peonies. I've spent more than one night sitting on our porch soaking up everything this place has been to us. This was our first home. It's where I prepped for my wedding, we brought home our 1st pups, had our 1st child, and created so many memories. ✨

We are staying in Nash so more to come on the next chapter and garden. 😉
