My application for the tomato art fest gallery was approved only a few weeks ago. I had to make a tomato lamp & quick!
I’ve found that a bit of pressure actually helps me, I’m forced to make decisive choices rather than second-guessing every option…so perhaps it was a blessing to have such a fast approaching deadline.
But there are so many ideas for a tomato inspired matchbook…should it be a farm ad? Canned tomato soup like the quintessential huntz? Just a straight up produce label? I posted inspo weeks ago that I ended up not even using.
I knew at the very least I wanted to use walnut in this lamp, I had gotten comfortable working with poplar and oak already. And of course red bulbs!
As the time came to a crunch I decided on my design very last minute, I wanted to honor the five points neighborhood of East Nashville, where I have called home the last 10 years.
