This afternoon we had to remove a dead post oak (Quercus stellata) that grew from a neighboring property. It’s important to not only look up at your own trees, but sometimes your neighbors trees too! This one was beginning to drop its dead limbs and needed to be brought down before it caused any serious property damage.

We are licensed and insured, and our ISA certified arborist has the experience and knowledge to safely handle all of your tree care needs!

Just say no to volcano mulching!

Mulch should never be piled into a mound around a tree trunk as it creates damp conditions that can encourage decay and disease.

Instead, apply mulch in a flat, even layer about 2 to 4 inches deep and keep it pulled back several inches from the trunk. As the mulch naturally breaks down over time, replenish it as needed to maintain the proper depth.

Mulch helps protect trunks from damage caused by lawn mowers and string trimmers, reduces competition from grass, conserves soil moisture and promotes healthier growth.

Do you know what the number one killer of trees is in an urban or residential setting? The answer might suprise you!

Did you know there are also remediation techniques that can be applied to alleviate some of that stress?

Our certified arborist wants to help you save your trees as long as possible! They are invaluable resources and pieces of infrastructure that can’t be replaced overnight, after all.

The number one killer of urban trees: soil compaction. Compacted soils leave no room for oxygen, which means roots are less viable! We can alleviate this with a process known as radial trenching and backfilling.

Did you know volcano mulch application can lead to critical failure if left untreated? This pine (Pinus spp.) had years of straw piled up at the base of the tree. This allowed for an excess of moisture and several other issues to compromise the base.

We can perform root collar excavations to remove volcano mulch and inspect for basal rot conditions! Message us to schedule a free estimate!
