Texas Beekeepers Association holds their annual convention in Nov. A few reasons I was not able to be in attendance this year, but did test for the next level of the Master Beekeepers Program.
I passed and got my certification yesterday! One more year and I can test into the Masters.

The hive is full with a one bar space between for ease of access. Eventually the plan is to make one hive, but to build up enough by fair I opted for two hives to start.
Please come visit us at the Comal County Fair this year. We will be located with the master gardeners, or in the rear of the Agrilife extension's space.

The newest addition to the Gruene Apiary Family. An observation hive for the Comal County Fair in September.
This top bar hive is unique in the way the bees draw half circular comb. They are manufactured in Austin, and placed 6th out of over 500 entries for 'best product' at the National Honeybee Convention earlier this year.

If anyone would like to have a model like this please contact me. I can take orders and would provide delivery if needed.

Tragedy.
These poor girls found there way into a heater duct that was venting an active pilot light. It was a swarm only a few weeks old but they absconded away after loosing a substantial amount of bees.
They caused a blockage as they died in the junction. Carbon monoxide was detected in the home about two weeks ago.
