Projected Heat Index Values for Tuesday are shown below. These values will largely be the same running in the Upper 90s and 100s nearly everyday this work week. Once these values reach ~104/105°… heat dangers really ramp up. At least y’all have had almost a full month to prepare for this last ugly stretch of weather.

Please take this stretch of extreme heat seriously. Remember heat illness is cumulative on the body. Stay well hydrated and have a plan to stay cool this week folks.

Looking longer term… Don’t hold me to it but it appears there will still be some hot days ahead of us but I think… This will be our last big stretch of dangerous heat levels given its longer duration.

Also, just as an FYI how well above normal temperatures will be, the average high temperature is 87° for this time of the year. We will be runnning some 8 to 12° above average!

Please stay safe this week folks! Just because temps may only get into the 90s… the value that counts is the heat index due to your bodies inability to cool itself of by releasing sweat which in turn is what causes heat illness. Heat is the Silent but #1 Deadliest Weather Killer here in the U.S. and accounts for more deaths than tornadoes, lightning, hurricanes and flooding COMBINED!!!!
