How it all began...

I have always had a passion for baking. Every year for Christmas, as long as I can remember, I have always baked as many cookies as I could! I remember years ago, my mom baking one of my favorites- the Chocolate Mint cookies, and going down into the basement where she stored them and sneaking a couple. Shh! Don’t tell her! As I’ve grown older, I have been addicted to those infamous Hallmark Christmas movies. We all have a guilty pleasure, right? Well, in about 80% of those movies, the main character is a small town bakery owner who has given up on love and then magically finds love at Christmas and her bakery is saved. Some part of me wants that corny Hallmark movie ending.

I am a 33 year old mom of two devilishly handsome young men, Madexx & Reid. They push me to be my best every day, and to be honest, I fail almost daily. This past Christmas they both expressed interest in helping me bake my normal set of cookies that we take to family functions. We ended up baking tens of dozens of cookies. We were NEVER going to eat all of them, so I figured I’d ask if anyone would want a cookie tray (This all happened a week or two before Christmas). Needless to say- it went swimmingly!! I sold all of the cookies I had, plus had to bake more to fulfill the orders requested. It was a huge success and got my entrepreneurial gears grinding. Why not start selling cookies? Why stop at cookies? Oh, what about cakes and sweets?! I laid in bed that night and barely slept while coming up with a million ideas.

Sitting at my dining room table with a dear friend of mine one night, I came up with the business and made it official. Once I made it official, I told my boys. I have never seen them so excited and proud of me, it made my heart full! They have shown nothing but interest and excitement in everything that has to do with OUR business. And I say OURs because without them, I wouldn't be me and this wouldn’t be real. They give me ideas, new flavors, love buying new supplies, watching decorating videos or baking shows, and boy do they love taste testing and sampling!!

My ultimate goal is to own my own bakery by the time I am 40. And it has to be in my hometown, New London. I want to go into the bakery one morning, open up my shop, have all the retired folks come sit at my counter, drink their coffee while snacking on a doughnut or pastry and complain about the weather or current politics. I have the entire look of my bakery picked out. I know exactly what I want, and I will not stop until I have it. Madexx has already told me he wants to be the manager and help run my shop when he turns 16 and can have a job.
