We received an emergency call today from a great, long time customer. They had someone power washing their home, and smelled a “burning electrical smell” intermittently throughout their first floor, mainly the dining room area. Upon arrival and after some investigation, we found the dining room outlets had no power. Outside the dining room, on their back deck was a very burned up outside outlet box. The water from power washing that section of the home ran down the siding and caused a short inside this box. Luckily, the breaker had tripped and the arcing was contained inside the outlet box. Had it not been, this could have been a substantial fire.

Always be cautious power washing around outlets and light fixtures, this is definitely not the first time we’ve seen something like this and if you ever notice an electrical burning smell, contact a professional right away to resolve the issue⚡️

Recent electrical service upgrade we did in Litchfield. This customer had an existing 100 amp service and equipment that had some very aged and dangerous feeders outside. We upgraded them to a 200 amp service, including a new Square D brand panel in the basement (photos to come, were also installing rough in wiring for a remodel). They also had some new HVAC equipment installed, so an upgrade was needed to accommodate these larger loads. Give us a call if you need help with an old or inadequate service, or anything else electrical in your home or business!💡
