Foam insulation and ants do not mix! This piece of unprotected foam was inside one of our beehives, to help keep the hive warm, for only three weeks. This is an extreme example of why we always fully protect foam products, (which we try to avoid), if they are used on the exterior of a building.

The construction of the New Ulster County Emergency Communication Center is proceeding very well. Once complete , the facility will house the County’s new state of the art 911 Call center as well as a government operations center, which will be stood up in the event of a major emergency where multiple agencies need to come together for collaboration. The facility is being constructed to be ultra resilient with redundant systems, ultra energy efficient, and highly secure .

2026.3.15 The new Ulster Savings Bank Stone Ridge branch site construction is coming along! In the second image you can see the storm water infiltration chambers which are located under the parking areas. Vinny Sickles is the project architect, Taitem Engineering is assisting us with all the building engineering. Peak Engineering, PLLC is providing wonderful civil engineering services and JMullen&sons Inc. is the excellent site contractor. The third image is a rendering as seen from the main entrance side of the building.

While the US falls behind China ZOOMS ahead. When electricity prices become unbearable we can "blame" the fossil fuel industry and the current federal "administration". Some days it is hard to post something positive. Solar is the least costly new "power" source, followed by wind. But this "government" is doing everything it can to block these projects. Meanwhile, we all pay the price, not only for electricity.

Federal agencies are delaying approvals for renewable energy projects on both federal land and private property at a time when electricity demand is going up.

The Ulster County Emergency Communications Center is under construction in New Paltz, Ulster County, NY. The new state-of-the-art facility will house the County's 911 call center and government operations center, with redundant, healthy and very resilient systems. The building will be highly secure, with a ballistics resistant enclosure and is designed to exceed the requirements of the building code and, other applicable standards, for essential facilities. We enjoy building with wood, but sometimes building with concrete and steel is necessary. "Heavy" construction is impressive. At Alfandre Architecture we appreciate the hard work of all of the trades, especially when they must work outside in the winter! . This very energy intensive facility will be ultra energy efficient and once the adjacent solar array is complete.
