Angled Acres Wood & Whatnot

Angled Acres Wood & Whatnot Angled Acres Wood & Whatnot is run by a retired husband-and-wife duo who decided retirement was a great time to…start a sawmill.

Using locally sourced trees and a solar-powered mill, they turn logs into lumber and “whatnot” into things you suddenly need.

One of my favorite things about sawing lumber with John is seeing what is in the tree. With each cut the grain changes, no two boards are the same. Sometimes you spot shapes like hearts or in the rare board below, a portrait of ET. Nature is an amazing thing!!

2 weeks ago we put 200 board feet of 5/4(1 1/4” thick) red oak into the kiln with a moisture content of 28%.
Today the moisture content is down to 18%.
Another week of sunny days should finished the wood drying nicely.
