MODU recently exhibited at the Île-de-France Architecture and Landscape Biennale in Versailles, France. In the exhibition “4 Degrees Between You and Me,” architects highlighted the importance of learning from southern climates as cities in temperate regions continue to heat up. Our contribution connected the climate-adaptable design of Promenade in Houston with our research on micro-climates along New York City’s sidewalks. Many thanks to curators and for including us in this necessary conversation and congratulation on the exhibit!

Between indoors and outdoors
An all-weather room provides visitors with experiences of thermal diversity. This room, open to the outdoors during the winter, includes hot and cold plunge pools. During inclement weather, the adaptable room is closed to the exterior and open to the interior, with a sauna and a fireplace for gathering. The pools, sauna, and radiant heating use geothermal energy.
