Excited to share that we are starting construction on the restoration and renewal of Wu Hall, the administrative, dining, and social center of Butler College at Princeton.
The 21,000-square-foot building was designed by Venturi Scott Brown in 1983, at the beginning of Princeton’s residential college system, and was the firm’s first project on campus. Robert Venturi aptly described Wu Hall as a “hyphen." Through its positioning on the site and through its formal, material, and stylistic choices, Wu Hall created a rich dialogue between the diverse structures, styles, and spaces around it and made possible multiple scales of connectivity between inside and outside.
Our scope is to restore the exterior façade, reconfigure select interior areas to meet programmatic and accessibility requirements, improve the building’s mechanical and electrical infrastructure, and create a new addition at the second floor. We are also specifying new furniture throughout.
Our design approach is to respect and restore the design intent of the building while enhancing functionality, infrastructure, and the occupant experience -- ensuring that Wu Hall will continue to support and enrich campus life for decades to come.
