In partnership with Munoz Engineering, and the we transformed a stretch of roadway into a flexible neighborhood plaza- a place for gatherings, markets, performances, and everyday community life. With traffic calming streets, new trees and planting beds, stormwater capture, and welcoming seating and amenities, the space is safer, greener, and built for people.

Proud to help create a healthier, more connected public realm for Brownsville.

Congratulations to Jake Romagnoli, recipient of the 2025 Frederic Bainnson Memorial Scholarship from ! 🎉 This award recognizes an exceptional second-year MLA student and was presented by ABB’s founding partner, Howard Abel, FASLA who retired in 2007 after a distinguished career in landscape architecture.
 
Howard and Frederic (Fred) Bainnson founded Abel & Bainnson in 1968, which later became Abel Bainnson Butz, LLP. Fred, who passed in 1990, is remembered for his remarkable talent, warmth, and mentorship, qualities that helped shape the firm’s identity and left a lasting impact on New York’s public spaces. His legacy lives on through this scholarship, which each year honors a promising student dedicated to advancing the field of landscape architecture.

Bronx Point has been recognized by the The Municipal Art Society of New York for “Best New Urban Amenity”. This transformative project turned one of the largest remaining City-owned vacant waterfront lots in the Bronx into a vibrant green space on the Harlem River.

A transformative project of this scale and significance is only possible through the collaborative efforts of a dedicated team. Thank you to our Client Marvel ,L+M Development Partners LLC, Type A & EDC, S9ARCHITECTURE and the many talented individuals who contributed their expertise, vision, and dedication to this project over many years.

Together, we created an inclusive, dynamic public space with accessible playgrounds, adult fitness, community plazas, enhanced waterfront access, and greenspace for all to enjoy. Congratulations to the whole team!

We are thrilled to share the East Midtown Greenway and Andrew Haswell Green Park, Phase 2B project has received the “Best New Infrastructure” Award from the The Municipal Art Society of New York!

ABB’s scope included grading and planting design for Andrew Haswell Green Park. We’re incredibly proud of this project and grateful to our Client WXY, Jacobs, NYC EDC. Congratulations to the larger team and our design partners for their dedication and The Municipal Art Society of New York for recognizing this project!

Schafer Esplanade in Brooklyn for

This project included the transformation of New York City’s longest operating brewery into a 38,200 SF public open space on the East River, providing waterfront access through an upland connection from Kent Avenue near South 8th Street.
