TODAY!!! Join me at Flatiron Plaza, from 3-7pm! I'm presenting "Life is a Dream," a large-scale installation inspired by "Day of the Dead, " incorporating contemporary and participatory elements. Bring an offering or photo, write a message to your ancestors and loved ones, and take a photo with the life-size wings.
Winged figures represent otherworldly creatures who act as messengers, guardians, and protectors who fly between heaven and earth. They also evoke freedom, hope, love, and life. The life-size wings photo-op reminds us of our ability to connect with loved ones who have passed before us. Wings are meant to remind us of our true nature, which is to love and protect each other.
You are welcome to stay for the dismantling the Altar, as -following tradition- we will be giving away flowers, fruit, and plants from the altar.
This piece was commissioned by School of Visual Arts Continuing Education
Location: 23rd St/Broadway, NYC 10010. We expect over 7k people, so please be sure to say hello! (Image is a mockup.)
