Did you know the name tantalus comes from punishment?
In Greek mythology, Tantalus was condemned to stand before things he desperately wanted but could never reach. Centuries later, the name became perfect for these locked liquor cabinets: the crystal decanters were right there, glittering in plain sight, but impossible to pour from without the key.
In 19th-century France, this was called a cave à liqueur — not a bar cart, not just a box, but a small after-dinner ceremony. It was brought out for cordials, digestifs, sweet liqueurs, and those tiny civilized pours that came after a long meal, when the dining room got quieter and the evening became more interesting.
This one has the kind of detail you do not get twice: marquetry, ebonized panels, mother-of-pearl inlay, crystal decanters, cordial glasses, and that secretive little luxury of something beautiful made to tempt you before it serves you.

Thursday has decided to be pretty 🥰.

The kind of live where nothing needs to match, everything has a little age, and the best pieces are the ones that look like they were never trying to impress anyone — they just always did.

Join us live this Thursday at 5 PM EST for Pretty Little Things 🤍🌸

There is a certain European aunt who would never own a matching set, never apologize for too much gilt, and would absolutely keep silver on a side table simply because it looks better there.

This live feels like her room.
A little formal, a little romantic, slightly dramatic, and full of pieces that make a home feel older, smarter, and much more interesting.

Join us live this Thursday at 4 PM EST for Continental Parlor.

The rule of decorating is: buy what you love…

That’s really how I’ve always chosen pieces — not by what is expected, not by what everyone else is looking for, but by that very specific feeling when something stops you.

I don’t believe the best homes are created by filling space. They’re built slowly, with pieces that make you pause, ask questions, and want to know where they’ve been.
That’s what we always look for — pieces with presence, history, and that quiet pull you can’t really fake.

Buy what you love. The room will follow.
