THE NEXT CHAPTER

Flipping through the pages of past projects.

Seeing my work in these print magazine spreads and coffee table books is a beautiful, humbling reminder that the late nights and big dreams were worth it. I’m incredibly grateful for the spaces I’ve created and the stories I’ve been trusted to tell over the years.

True growth requires two things: showing yourself the grace to celebrate how far you’ve come, and having the faith to see where you are being led.

Now, it’s time to build on that foundation. While the next chapter isn’t fully written yet, I am officially turning the page to a new era of my design journey. I am stepping forward with a quiet focus, higher standards, and the patience to let bolder designs unfold. The mission continues. I am trusting the path and staying ready for the doors that are meant to open next.

VISION POWERED BY TRUST

Unless the architecture itself is the art, I find it hard to leave a wall completely silent. There is certainly beauty in “white space” and giving the eye a place to rest, but art and color are what give a room its soul.

In this retail commercial project, we gave this private office just the adornment it deserves. I love the idea that your art doesn’t have to “match” the room; there’s a specific kind of magic in that friction. It adds a layer of interest that ensures a space can never be duplicated. During the design development phase, my client asked, “You sure are using a lot of disparate color? But I have full trust in your vision.”

These are the best kind of clients. Trust the professional and trust the vision.

As an interior designer, your “hand” isn’t a fixed point; it’s a living thing that evolves with every new experience and every unique project type.

We’re not just styling a room; we’re curating a lifetime of stories. We are currently obsessed with our client’s time-honored collection of mouth-blown vintage glass.

Our favorite part of the process? Weaving these earthy, spice-hued treasures into a modern layout that feels both fresh and deeply personal. It’s about more than “decor”, it’s about making sure your most loved pieces finally have the stage they deserve.

Trailblazers like The Honorable Sharon Pratt deserve their flowers every single day.

Years ago, when my close friend shared that her mother .pratt.777 was running for Mayor of Washington, D.C., I was in awe. I had never personally known a woman aspiring to such a powerful leadership role. When she won, she didn’t just lead our nation’s capital, she made history as the first Black woman to serve as mayor of a major American city.

Sharon’s legacy is defined by being a barrier-breaking “first. From serving as the first woman and first Black woman Treasurer of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) to her current leadership at Pratt Consulting and the Institute of Politics, Policy, and History at UDC, she remains a fierce advocate for Black-owned and women-owned businesses.

I feel incredibly blessed to call her my friend, Soror, champion, and client. My design studio has had the honor of creating well-appointed spaces for her, but the most meaningful project has been the design renovation of her home including transforming a long hallway into an “Ancestral Family Legacy” gallery. We curated decades of family history and major milestones that had been stored in crates for years. It was an emotional reveal. Aimee even shared that she gets choked up walking down that corridor now.
