Best Soft Christmas Cookies
Ingredients
2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
½ tsp baking powder
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 ½ cups white sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
½ tsp almond extract
3 tbsp sour cream
½ cup colored sprinkles or sugar crystals for decoration
Directions
1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
2. In a small bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and baking powder. Set aside.
3. In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
4. Beat in egg, vanilla, almond extract, and sour cream until well combined.
5. Gradually stir in the dry ingredients until just blended — don’t overmix.
6. Drop rounded teaspoonfuls of dough onto ungreased cookie sheets.
7. Flatten slightly and top with sprinkles or colored sugar.
8. Bake for 8–10 minutes, until edges are lightly golden but centers are still soft.
9. Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
