A couple of years ago, I started Sown in Thyme, rooted in my love for gardening.

I imagined spending my days teaching others to grow their own gardens, sharing the joy that had always brought me so much

The hard truth?

I didn’t love it as much as I thought I would.

As I closed out the year, I already dreaded the next.

I thought:

“Maybe just one more year…”

But after a real heart-to-heart with myself (and my husband), I realized:

if it’s not serving me now, it’s okay to just close this chapter.

What this journey taught me is that my love for growing and creating beauty is still alive, just ready for a new form.

So here’s the exciting part:

I’m shifting gears and starting a micro flower farm! 🌸

A shift this dramatic doesn’t happen overnight, so we’re shooting for a 2027 launch.

I went back to work full-time to help us save for our forever home: our future flower-filled dream space.

I’ve started an Instagram for the farm:

Content is coming, and I can’t wait to share this new chapter with you.

Thank you to all our clients and community for an amazing run, and here’s to new beginnings! ❤️🌸

Homemade Gnocchi + Garden Fresh Tomato Sauce 🍅✨
(Added a little chicken for protein!)

Probably one of my favorite dishes I’ve ever made using garden ingredients.
If I ever want to impress someone at a dinner party — this is what I’m making 👩‍🍳

⏱ Total time: about 1.5 hrs
The tomato sauce only took ~30 min to cook down thanks to all the prep I did before canning. The gnocchi? A bit tedious… but so worth it.

Tomato Sauce Ingredients:
🍅 Canned garden tomatoes (peeled + de-seeded)
🌿 Basil
🌿 Oregano
🌿 Curly leaf parsley
🌶️ Red pepper flakes
🧄 Garlic
🧅 Onion
🥫Tomato paste

More garlic planting! 🧄✨

This time I’m switching it up — planting my garlic on the inside of the beds instead of the edges (which is what I usually recommend).

I’ll break down why I made the change 👩🏻‍🌾

If you’re in , you’ve still got time to get yours in before the ground freezes! ❄️

How to plant garlic and tools to use 🥰🧄

Planting Garlic! 🧄

Did you know there are two main types of garlic?
✨ Softneck — what you usually see in grocery stores. Stores up to a year!
✨ Hardneck — bolder flavor, stores up to 8 months, and grows beautiful scapes you’ll harvest in spring.

This year I bought mine from 🌿
also has great options!

👉 Plant each clove (not the whole head!) about 2” deep and 4” apart.

❄️Planf after your frost date, but before the ground is frozen

What garlic questions do you have?? 👇🧄

Join me while I attempt to make an arugula salad one-handed 😅

We planted a ton of arugula this season — and none of it’s going to waste! 🌱
I just cut a fresh bowl right from the garden, chopped it up while I was out there, and brought it inside.

Toss in some cooked chicken breast (we usually prep a few ahead of time), a little feta, and finish it off with balsamic vinaigrette made with avocado oil — no seed oils here 🙌

Simple, fresh, and straight from the garden 💚

Once your garden is planted, the real work begins 🌱

Here’s what you’ll need to stay on top of regularly:
✨ Prune back leaves that block other plants
✨ Tie climbing plants to their trellises
✨ Stay ahead of pests and disease
✨ Add compost when summer heat kicks in
✨ Water deeply when the soil dries out
✨ Harvest often to keep plants producing

You get the picture 🌿

It’s all fun and sunshine the first few weeks — but once the heat sets in, the excitement fades and the work sets in 😅

Don’t quit! That’s when the magic happens — when your garden roots in, matures, and really starts to thrive.

Real talk before you build your garden 👇

1️⃣ The spot you want your garden might not be the right one. Sun exposure, water access, and visibility all have to line up. No exceptions.

2️⃣ You’ll be obsessed with your garden for the first 6 weeks: watering, checking it daily, loving it. Then it gets hot. Life gets busy. And suddenly… your garden’s struggling. Maintenance support from us can save your garden if you’re overwhelmed. Otherwise, say goodbye to your plants and your homegrown food.

3️⃣ Materials matter…a lot. Use 2” thick cedar or cypress boards, or corten steel beds if you want them to last years. Same goes for steel trellises. Yes, it costs more upfront. But cutting corners means replacing materials (and spending more) sooner than you think.

4️⃣ Gravel paths are worth every penny. Without them, you’ll end up with a mud pit where your grass used to be, tangled vines on your lawn, and damaged beds from weed-eating.

5️⃣ We offer both DIY and full-service installs. But here’s the truth: splitting tasks usually creates more work for everyone, especially you. Either go full on DIY at your own pace, or invest in full service and have it done right and on time.

6️⃣ We practice intensive companion planting which helps reduce pests, NOT eliminate them. You’ll still see bugs. Some will get eaten by predators, some you’ll have handle manually. Organic, no-spray gardening is beautiful… but it’s not effortless.

7️⃣ Soil matters. 100000%. Mess this part up, and you’ll spend years (and money) trying to fix it.

8️⃣ Deer? The only guaranteed solution is an 8–10 ft fence. We have creative deterrents, but if fencing isn’t in the budget, be ready for some damage.

9️⃣ Sometimes plants die for no reason at all. This isn’t the norm, but it can still happen.

Harvest. Prune. Water. Maintain. Repeat. 🌱

A beautiful garden that feeds your family doesn’t happen by chance — it happens with regular care and attention.

We always tell clients: check your garden every day, even if it’s just for 5 minutes. Little habits make the biggest difference.

🍅 If plants are shading others — prune.
🥕 If something’s ready — harvest.
🐛 If pests are eating your greens - pick them off.
🌿 If a climber needs support — tie it up.

And if it all feels a bit overwhelming… well, it can be! That’s why we offer garden maintenance sessions for every client.

✨ Mid-season refreshes if you fell behind
✨ Weekly care so you can focus on other things
✨ Monthly visits to help you stay on track

Your garden deserves consistency — and we’re here to help make it effortless. 💚
