You guyssss I am recording two realllyyy cool podcasts this month and gearing up for two panels, one IRL and one digital (more on this soon!) and I am just so freaking stoked that everything I have been talking about with you all here, over at Ali Faulkner and now on YouTube (!!!) has been striking a chord and now I get to share it across different platforms in our community - like I’m just in awe of how everything has snowballed and I’m so grateful that you all are along for this wild ride and loving every second of it as much as meeee! A lotttt of pinch me moments let me tell ya!

Okayyyy AUGUST. How are we here already?? I feel like I blinked and the stores are already stuffed with Halloween decorations while it's still 90 degrees outside, and it just doesn’t seem right! The nice thing about it being soo damn hot during the day is the perfecttt weather at night - been taking Huntley, my doggo, for more walks in the evenings. Isn’t life funny how you remember the neighbor's dog's name before you can remember their name?? Please, for the love of god tell me I am not the only one!

I went to a friend's 40th birthday party recently, and it was formal attire, which forced me to get my nails done to make up for the fact that I didn't have something super formal? Anywhoooo, now I am over here getting my nails done again? I fear this might turn me into a nail girl. I got suckered into like a layer of dip clear coat and then gel on top? And I am not going to lie, it's soooo thick it's nearly impossible to peel it off, which is whyyyy I stopped really doing the gel game to begin with. Have you guys heard of this dip, clear coat, and gel combo? Am I so late to the game? Is 2026 the year I become a nail girl? Can someone please send me their favorite pale yellow? Do I need to do chrome on top? What's the 411 folksssss!!!

FRIENDSSSS Episode 2 of Honestly, Ali is here!! This week I got to sit down with someone I actually trust with my clients’ homes, which, if you know me, you know is a VERY big deal: the one + only Doug Zalar of Zalar Homes Inc.!! Here’s the thing nobody warns you about before you build or renovate: the relationship between your designer and your builder is basically the wholeee ballgame. When your designer + builder genuinely like each other and talk to each other? Pure magic. When they don’t?? Ooof, trust me, you feel it in every single decision!

Doug + I get into ALL of it, when you should actually bring both of us onto your project (spoiler: waaay earlier than you think!!), how to properly vet a builder before you hand over the keys to your dream home, and the green flags I personally look for before I’ll work with anyone. One of my favoriteee takeaways from my amazing business coach Angie Wisdom | Keynote Speaker | Capacity & Performance is “as we do the hard things in life we build the confidence in ourselves” and “you have to know you won’t do it perfect the first time but you will learn how to get better each time” and I find myself returning to this over + over again bc as a founder you don’t really have any other choice but do the hard things to push your business forward!! At the end of the day it does all fall on you as the owner, the good + the maybe nottt so good things, buttt that doesn’t mean that you have to tackle each and every thing alone. Obvi I lean so heavily on this amazing design community we are so lucky to be a part of buttt one of my other fave tools which I’m sure you've noticed me reference in stories are books - there are SO many incredible nuggets of info in design books and why the heckkk would I stumble through something blindly if I can channel the knowledge of a million experts who have been there done it before!? So friends I leave you with the titles currently topping my charts anddd I want to know what are you reading that is inspiring you??

Whyyyyyy is it that the worst sunburns always happen when it's cloudy AF and you least expect them? And no matter how many times I've gotten burned in these conditions, I still fail to put on the sunscreen. Also, can we talk about sunscreen for a minute? Does someone need to come out with a cool sunscreen brand? I feel like that category needs a shake-up and we need a cooooolll looking sunscreen brand - like not face sunscreen, but all over your body. Or am I living under a rock, and it exists? Please tell me in the comments folks. Primally Pure had a nice one - but small bottle. Do we like Supergoop - do we not? This is what I think about when I am trekking around Orange County, butttt a price I am willing to pay LOL

Can anyone tell me why, just why in the freakingggg world we will wait in the In-N-Out line for 30 minutes, no matter how long that damn line is?? Sometimes I am like f**k it - I’ll just call my friend I haven’t talked to in a hot minute, and the time will flyyyy by - sure as s**t that’s how it always goes. What do you guys do while waiting 30 minutes in the In-N-Out line? Alsoooo protein style yoooo is where it’s at - plus grilled onions, it’s a must to have grilled onions. Maybe that’s why I’ll wait in this damn line LOL

You guys probably already know the shortlist of things that will just light me up - Taco Bell, leadership books, Monster Energy drinks, gardening, an all-day spa day, dipping my feet in the ocean, a dirty martini in an ice-cold glass- you know the drill!! Anddd if you ask me the same question for design (millwork aside obvvvv) it will hands down always be a material that gets better as it ages!! Enter the chat: unlacquered brass!! She is that girl - patina, patina, patina babyyy!! She is a living, breathing thing, evolving over time, becoming deeper, darker, and sexier!! Oh my!! We love a little drama, and unlacquered brass is just the trick - for one of our projects, we sourced an unlacquered brass sink faucet from House of Rohl Perrin and Rowe, a brand out of London, and I can't waitttt to see how this baby looks in the kitchen, it's going to look sooo sick!
