Fix Our Schools RI

Fix Our Schools RI On November 6th we have an unprecedented opportunity to invest in the rebuilding of our public school

This group is committed to addressing the poor condition of Rhode Island's public school buildings. Since September 2016, several individuals and organizations have been meeting and working to develop a meaningful plan to tackle this problem. Given the complexity of this issue, the Fix Our Schools Coalition actively and deliberately sought to gather information from a variety of sources essential

to this effort. We learned more than we could have imagined listening to nurses, teachers, architects, scientists, and those with a background in public finance, among others. This extraordinary collaboration is a testament to the value that Rhode Islanders place on the issue of repairing our school infrastructure, but there is more to be done. We look forward to continuing this important work together.

Important meeting in Newport on Saturday!

If you live in Newport, then you've likely heard the discussion, and maybe even engaged in a conversation, related to the City's school infrastructure. This weekend, all are invited to have their say at the second of three planned public design sessions hosted by the School Department's School Building Committee.

Aimed at envisioning what a new Rogers High School might look like, the community-driven charrette is due to get underway at 10 a.m. in the Pell Elementary School cafeteria at 35 Dexter Street in the City's North End.

The meeting will start with a summary of community input received thus far followed by a "bubble diagramming" exercise intended to help guide the School Building Committee as it works toward developing a final proposal to be presented to the City Council in the coming months.

For more information, residents are encouraged to visit the School Department's School Construction webpage at https://buff.ly/32gRDEf
