I very much like to use wood with knots, figure, and other “imperfections” in my work. I feel like it adds character and reminds me that everything is beautiful in its own way if we take the time to see it.

That said, sometimes a knot needs a little help standing the test of time…so I’m using some dark brown medium thick CA glue to help stabilize this one before it becomes the face of a wooden dice rolling castle.

Six pack of frames completed and now holding prints from Peace Love & Hippiness! Truly thankful to be helping an amazing local artist(and my beautiful wife) showcase her work.

All frames were made of pine, yes just regular ole pine 😃. The darker ones were then dyed using ebony dye stain, and the lighter ones were just left to be their natural selves. Both finished with some water based polyurethane.

I think they turned out great and they were finished up just in time to showcase at the Third Friday event tonight in Ottawa IL.

Had a helper join me in the shop for a few hours this weekend - we made quite a bit of sawdust working on a 6-pack of frames that will end up housing prints for Peace Love & Hippiness just in time for a show this Friday.

Final cuts to size, and glue ups happening today. Stain and finish throughout the week. Show and tell of the finished product with our next update.

I’ve been building custom frames for my wife since right around pandemic times - and I’ve steadily improved my skill and my equipment to the point where I’m feeling good about offering up this service to anyone.
