Copeland Design Collective

Copeland Design Collective Landscape architecture studio designing life outside your walls for cities, schools, and communities across Oklahoma & the Region.

We create parks, trails, athletic facilities, and public spaces...and offer grant support services to help get them funded! Copeland Design Collective is a landscape architecture studio based in Oklahoma City, dedicated to designing life outside your walls for cities, schools, and communities. We focus on the kinds of everyday public spaces where people actually live their lives...parks, trails, s

chool campuses, athletic facilities, streetscapes, and civic gathering places. Our work blends thoughtful planning, clear communication, and practical detailing so projects don’t just look good in renderings, but perform well on the ground for years to come. We care deeply about places feeling rooted in their context. That means paying attention to local landscapes, community stories, and how people really move through and use a site. Whether we are shaping an entry sequence for a new high school, reimagining a neighborhood park, or planning a trail connection, we aim for designs that feel like they belong, and that make daily routines a little easier, safer, and more delightful. Because many of our clients are municipalities and school districts, we also support the behind‑the‑scenes work that makes projects possible. Our team helps identify funding opportunities, provide grant support, and align scope, budget, and phasing so good ideas can become funded, buildable projects. We’re comfortable in council meetings, community workshops, and on dusty construction sites, advocating for projects that reflect local priorities. At the heart of Copeland Design Collective is a commitment to care: care for the people who will use these spaces, for the communities that invest in them, and for the landscapes that hold them. We collaborate closely with clients, consultants, and construction partners, bringing a clear process and a friendly, down‑to‑earth approach to every project. When we do our best work, the result is simple: outdoor places where life happens, people connect, and communities feel proud.

Plant of the Week: Blue False Indigo 💙

At Copeland Design Collective, we love plants that bring both character and performance. Blue False Indigo layers in deep blue blooms, soft structure, and long-lived resilience in sunny sites.. adding a touch of prairie color and pollinator support while keeping maintenance low and landscapes feeling grounded and intentional. ☀️🪻

Today we’re celebrating Kayla, Principal Landscape Architect and the creative mind behind so many of the outdoor spaces we get to dream up and deliver at Copeland Design Collective. ✨🌷

“As a landscape architect, my favorite part of the job is designing the places where memories are made—where families gather, friends meet up, and communities come to life.” – Kayla Copeland, PLA

Happy Birthday, Kayla! 🥳 We’re grateful for the heart, vision, and leadership you bring to every project. 💕

Field of dreams, built by hand. ⚾🌾 In our latest LATTE, Evelyn takes us to The Long Time outside Austin… a humble sandlot where hay bales, chicken‑coop dugouts, and reclaimed materials add up to one of the most welcoming ballfields you’ll ever see.

We love trails that tell a story one step at a time. 🥾🌲 The natural trail at Mountain Fork Resort guides guests through preserved groves and tucked‑away clearings, revealing moments for play, conversation, and connection with the land along the way. 🫶🏻

Plant of the Week: Soft Rush 🌿

At Copeland Design Collective, we love plants that work hard and still look elegant. Soft Rush brings simple, vertical texture to the wettest parts of a site..rain gardens, pond edges, and low spots. Turning functional stormwater areas into refined, habitat‑rich outdoor experiences. ✨💧🌱

Altus is stitching together a trail system that connects everyday destinations and big view.. and we’re grateful to be along for the ride.

From the original citywide trail master plan to the Reservoir Trail amenities package now underway, we love helping turn lines on a map into places to walk, bike, gather, and breathe a little deeper with Altus Parks + Recreation ☀️

Honored to support the Citizen Potawatomi Nation as landscape architect for their new headquarters, hotel, and casino in Shawnee, OK. These projects bring together cultural expression, hospitality, and everyday community life. Indigenous details are woven into every space…from weaving‑inspired patterns to historically medicinal plantings and storytelling trees. The landscape quietly carries the Nation’s stories throughout the site.

It’s one more way Copeland Design Collective is designing life outside the walls, creating places where culture, land, and community come together. 🫶🏻

Blackberry dreams and sticky fingers. 💙☁️

In our latest LATTE, Kayla shares why she planted a “dream hedge” of thornless blackberries (Apache + Arapaho), how they’re shaping the space into a true family garden, Evelyn’s genius pruning trick, and the blackberry pie bars she baked with Everly to celebrate. 🥧

Sometimes my family gets to reap major rewards of flavor and beauty, and sometimes my experiments mega...
