I am in the running to be The People's Artist. At the moment I am first in my group. There are still a few stages to the voting. This is what I will do if I receive the $25,000 prize: I will create additional exhibition space in my home with a private entrance. This will be a space to display art monthly throughout the year. I will also add a shower to the existing private bath for an annual artist-in-residence program in the summer, for one artist per year. Length of the residency will be only 3 days, and during that time the artist may share use of my studio space and we'll create a video about their art, and the experience as well as a catalog.
I am the people's artist because when I have the opportunity for success, my first thought is to share it with other great living artists.

I still have my sign from Afif Gallery at 1904 South St.

It hangs at the entrance of the space I will be transforming into a gallery.

On October 8, I started work on a portrait commission. Yesterday the recipients of the commission received it as a Christmas gift. Here's a photo of it on day 1. I'll be releasing a video of the whole process and the finished painting soon.

We are THRILLED to announce a transformational, one-million-dollar gift from long-time supporter Julie Jensen Bryan! 🎉🎉🎉 It is the largest donation received in our 110-year history, and will ensure our ability to thrive into the future.

This exceptional gift, distributed over five years, will launch an Endowment Fund, as well as provide support to care for our treasured, late 19th century building and invest in our outstanding staff. In recognition of this gift, our historic home will be named “The Print Center at the Julie Jensen Bryan Building.”

This gift is made even more meaningful, as it comes at a time of economic uncertainty for so many arts organizations. We are deeply grateful for Julie Bryan’s confidence and commitment, allowing us to move confidently into the future, and to build on previous accomplishments to serve the community with vital, compelling and thought-provoking exhibitions, public programs and publications dedicated to issues and accomplishments in contemporary photography and print.
