Most people think the garden happens between May and September. The truth is, with the right plan, we can enjoy three full seasons of the vegetable garden in Maryland. 🍅🥕

Think fresh herbs in spring, sun-ripe tomatoes in summer, and sweet carrots after the first frost of fall.

Want to see what's possible for a Maryland vegetable garden?

I created the Year in the Garden Guide - it's a seasonal roadmap to garden to table living all year long. 📆 https://www.goldenhourgardenco.com/garden-year-guide

🍂 Think it’s too late to garden? Not in the DMV!

Fall is my favorite season to start a garden, and there’s still plenty you can grow right now. Cool weather crops actually thrive this time of year, and you’ll enjoy fresh harvests long after summer is over.

If you’re not sure what will work in your space, or how to time things for fall, that’s exactly what I help with. My fall garden consults are open now, and I’d love to help you plan and plant so you can enjoy your garden this season and be ready to roll in spring.

👉 Book your consult today or send me a quick message to get on my calendar before spots fill up!

Check out the demo garden we planted during the raised bed garden workshop Christopher's Garden Center this afternoon! It’s packed with herbs, flowers, peppers, and even a tomato. Thanks to everyone who came out to learn about setup, soil, spacing, and more. It was a fun time!

👉 Swipe for BEFORE

When I first got to this garden in North Bethesda last May, it was in need of a plan. The gardener had some things come up, putting the garden on the back burner, and nature (and clutter) quickly jumped in to reclaim the space.

In our first session, we sat down to discuss how the garden was used, what sort of joy it brought, and what challenges the gardener had been facing. We were able to set some realistic and seasonal goals.

We inventoried supplies, did a little clean up, measured the space, and drafted a garden plan for the warm season.

A week later, I returned to finish cleaning up the garden and plant all four beds. And by the end of June, when I returned for a coaching session it looked like this. We harvested three baskets of tomatoes, basil, bush beans, eggplants, and peppers.

Over the years l've learned that a garden plan doesn't have to be complicated but it is the key to making gardening attainable and enjoyable. And sometimes you just need a little extra help when life happens.

Helping other gardeners make their garden a place of joy is my favorite thing to do.

Don’t buy seeds just yet!! Planning your spring garden? Here’s the very first thing you need to do 👉

Before you buy a bunch of seed packets or head to the hardware store, answer these four questions to make a list of what to plant.

1. What are your family’s favorite meals?
2. What ingredients do you always use?
3. What veggies and herbs are you regularly buying at the grocery store?
4. And of course, what would make you really happy to grow?

I like making this the very first step because it ensures you’re investing your time, money, and space into growing things that work for you and your kitchen. Things you will actually harvest and use!
