So, magellanica gardens, the gardening love of my life, the house and gardens are sold. Hopefully somewhere down the line, I will start again somewhere else. I will take the name and it's spirit with me.
I am heartbroken and hopeful.
Wish me luck

Magellanica Gardens, the property, not the name is for sale. The house, greenhouses and land. There are no more fuchsias for sale or available.
In the future, I may start up the nursery again. But for now, it is not possible to continue to put it back together.
Thanks for all your support in the past, I just can't restore the nursery and run it by myself. And I miss it truly and completely, and I miss the fuchsia society folks with all my heart.

Again,
Thank you for loving fuchsias

Don't garden by the seat of your pants,
Sit down and enjoy the whole garden

Hello fuchsia and plant enthusiasts!
I've decided to restore the garden from the wrecked status that it is, it is a reflection of my life for the past few years. I've finally gotten off my ass and decided to reclaim and improve upon all of it. While I will not be reopening the nursery, not anytime soon anyways, I'm hoping to have cleaned it all up and reorganized it by next winter.
I will be posting pictures of the beginnings and progress, so keep a colorful eye out!
Thanks,
And here's to gardening by the seat of my pants!

It is with a saddened and broken broken heart that I have closed Magellanica Gardens. My hope is to open again in the future, at a different location. But here's to the future of gardening pleasures and happier lives!
See you all around sometime, somewhere, somehow. ...

Now is also a time to do some serious lawn maintenance. Clip your lawn down to at least 1 inch, aerreate or plug your lawn to allow for good drainage and air during the winter and spring rains, top dress your lawns with sand and compost, reseed for a thicker and fuller lawn (reseeding helps the health of the lawn, thickens the lawn and prevents w**ds, also at this time of the year, you don't have to water as much, making seedlings establishment much easier, and cheaper on the water bill.) Fall planted lawns are much stronger and have much better root structure than a spring planted lawn, although, you should reseed in the spring to allow for quick filling of any thin spots in the lawn. Use fertilizers that allow for good root growth, high phosphorus, and potassium along with some lime build good roots. Do not use high nitrogen fertilizers from the spring, they encourage heavy blade growth and make for shallow roots and thatch. And remember, you get what you pay for in grass seed, cheap seed has higher quantities of w**d seed and inert material (fiberglass, paper, etc...). And pick a grass seed that has been cultivated for your area, and the right amount of sun and shade. FYI, I prefer pennington grasses and my favorite type of seed is Old Orchard Grass Seed (Used on golf courses of course!).

Grey days are perfect days for taking pictures of your flowers, the temperatures are cooling, bringing out the bold colors of the flowers, and the sunlight is difused, helping to not wash out the colors. Now is the time to preserve the memory of your flowers for the winter. Take pictures of your garden so that in the spring you have a visual road map of your garden when you go to dig in the spring!

Yet another wonderful fall day in the Pacific Northwest. great day to do inventory on plants that you have grown this year. Also a good day to research on which plants grew well over the season, which plants did not do well, and which plants you need to propagate for next years season. Also a great day, if you own a greenhouse, to clean up and prepare for the winters coming weather, check seams and poly covers for damage, do some maintenance on the heating systems, sprinkler systems and clean all fans ( fans collect dirt, mold and other unwanted material through the summer that can blow all over the greenhouse and cause all kinds of problems).
