A remodel should end with a space that feels like yours. That sounds obvious. It rarely happens without the right process.

Most people walk away with something that looks fine. Competent. Inoffensive. And somehow not quite them.

That's what I spend most of my work preventing.

I'm Tiffany Williams. Twenty-six years of kitchen and bath design. Sixteen of those were spent in Omaha, Nebraska, where I built a full-service practice from the ground up.

Five years ago, my family left Omaha to traveled the country full time. We lived in rented homes, short-term spaces, rooms designed by someone else for someone else. I paid attention to every one of them. What worked. What didn't. What makes a space feel considered versus assembled.

I'm now based in Bellingham Washington, serving clients across Whatcom County, Seattle, and the San Juan Islands. I still work with clients in Omaha- I’ll always have a soft spot for home.

Your home should feel like you — not me. My job is to find that vision, even when you haven't found it yet. I ask the right questions, listen between the lines, and design around the way you actually live.

The backsplash was the first decision we made for Blue Oak Haven. Everything else followed its lead.

When I pulled the @‌daltile_charleston Brickwork tile for this project, I knew instantly. The random shade variation and distressed edges brought exactly the kind of lived-in warmth this kitchen needed to balance those deep navy cabinets and dark soapstone countertops.

Bold cabinetry demands a backsplash with texture and history. Something too clean would have fought the mood. This tile, inspired by historic metropolitan brick, gave the space its soul. Grounded. Layered. Resolved.

Fourteen material samples later, one choice changed the entire room.

Home is where the heart is, and the right materials make it feel that way from the first glance.

Save this for your next kitchen project.

"I want a bathroom that feels like a spa."

Translation: "I need five minutes in my day that feel like an escape."

So we created a walk-in shower with a bench, a rain head that actually feels luxurious, and lighting that doesn't make you squint at 6am.

Now her morning shower isn't just hygiene—it's the pause she needs before the day begins.

You deserve a space that gives instead of takes.

Demo is done. The walls are open. Nothing looks finished yet and everyone in the house is tired.

This is the middle. It's the hardest part of any remodel, and it's also the most predictable.

Part Two covers how to manage the dust, talk to your contractor, make decisions without burning out, and keep your family fed through all of it. Week three is the hardest. That's not a warning — that's just the math.

Swipe through. The finish line is closer than it feels.

One of my first questions in every client meeting has nothing to do with finishes, colors, or style.

I ask them to walk me through their worst morning. The one where the coffee maker is blocked by yesterday's mail, the kids can't find their shoes, the dog bowl gets kicked across the floor, and someone is eating cereal standing up because there's no room to sit down.

That morning tells me more about what the kitchen needs to be than any mood board ever could.

I've spent 26 years watching what happens when a home is designed for appearance instead of rhythm. The countertops stay bare for exactly one week. The open shelving becomes a source of stress instead of style. The island that looked proportional in the rendering becomes an obstacle course during the school rush.

The kitchens that actually work? They have a place for the backpacks. A drawer for the dog's food. Enough counter depth that two people can prep without bumping elbows. They are designed around Tuesday at 7am, not Saturday at noon when company is coming.

Your home should look like you. But more importantly, it should move like you.

Tangerine Designs, where every design is a Reflection of you.

Save this if you're planning a renovation. Then go stand in your kitchen tomorrow morning and pay attention to every single friction point. That's your real brief.
