Cobourg’s Christmas Magic

We here at Ironwood Tree and Landscape would like to share the story of our annual Christmas Magic Tree.

Throughout the year we are asked to remove trees on properties for a variety of reasons including the tree being too close to a home, the tree leaning and causing a potentially dangerous situation or, in this year’s case, one of the trees was actually growing through a deck.

If the tree is a good candidate for Christmas Magic, we suggest to the homeowner that we could do the job for free if they would be able to wait until Christmas Magic time and donate the tree to the display. This year we had the pleasure of doing this with two large evergreens.

When it’s time for the tree to come down that’s when Rob and his team from Northumberland Crane and Tree Service come in to help as well.

We donate our time and equipment to remove the tree and transport it to town for its last beautiful goodbye as part of the Christmas magic display in Cobourg.

We work with the town to secure a police es**rt for the transporting of the tree to ensure we all get there safely.

Once we have raised, and secured it at the waterfront, that’s when the town steps in to decorate it for Christmas Magic for everyone to share and appreciate.

Once the holiday season is over and the people of Cobourg have enjoyed the Christmas Magic displays, the town chips it up and uses it as top up fill for our town’s playgrounds and parks.

This tree would have been cut down and disposed of during the summer season, but instead we have given it new life and brought friends and family together to share in its glory.

Next time your around town and walking along a wood chipped path or playground you can smile and remember where it came from.
