Hello, Billy from billys Handyman here, and I’d like to let you in on a little secret. If you have exposed ductwork at your home or at your business and they’re not coated properly you are loosing efficiency and wasting money. Unsealed and coated ducting lose airflow due to pressure leaks, you get water leaks inside that rot the ducting materials both inside and out and more importantly you spend extra money cooling the ductwork before you even cool your home or business. Just an example; the pictures below show the temperature difference of treated and untreated spiral ducting on an Ojai residence during our coating process. Hello and thank you for stopping by! My name is Billy, I was born and raised in Ojai and the Ventura County. I am a US Navy Veteran and former F/A-18 fighter jet mechanic. I am very happy to continue to serve my neighbors and friends here in my home town and the Ventura County with over 20 years of experience in the HV/AC industry.
As this heat wave begins our summer its time to clean out the vents, clean debris out of the AC condenser on the side of the house, change the air filters and check the refrigerant levels so you stay nice and comfortable on those hot days with no expensive emergency AC service calls.
Lots of big companies will try to say they’ll “check your refrigerant for $35.” however, they fail to mention that “fee” is specifically for hooking up their gauges to the condenser and that everything else has its own $charge$- including the cost of upwards of $65 per lb. or more for refrigerant (depending on age of the system and type of refrigerant needed) if your system is low. Please understand that this doesn’t mean that if I have to clean the evaporator coil or add refrigerant that there wont be additional costs for labor, parts, cleaning agents and materials, however, I will try to give you as educated advice as to what I can do to fix the problem and to give you options that may help alleviate sticker shock and repair costs.
Please give us a call at Billy’s Handyman and HV/AC and let us do a full system inspection including condenser cleaning, refrigerant check, and filter change for $125. If you do need refrigerant or parts we will give you an honest and affordable estimate upfront for any repairs necessary.
