Thinking back to this bouquet I made for L & J for their July wedding after graciously shared some photos of the event. What a beautiful day! This morning it was dumping snow, which we needed after it rained all weekend. We’re trying to enjoy this weird winter, but pictures of warmer, flowery days have us dreaming…

Also, we’ve still got some slots on our wedding calendar if you find yourself dreaming about our farm grown flowers at your summer wedding or event. Feel free to reach out if you’re interested!

It’s that time! Registration for our 2025 flower CSA subscription is now open, and we’d love to have you join us as a member! You can follow the link in our bio to register.

New to the program? Here’s how it works: each summer, CSA subscription members get a fresh, arranged bouquet of the farm’s best flowers every week for ten weeks. The CSA begins in early July and last through early September, and we have pickup locations in downtown Palmer (Tuesdays) and at the APU Farmer’s Market in Anchorage (Wednesdays). On your pickup day, all you need to do is show up at your chosen location and pick a bouquet!

If you’re interested in becoming a CSA member but have questions, please reach out and we can tell you more. We’re excited for another year of CSA bouquets, and we can’t wait to see many of you back from previous years. Thanks in advance for supporting this program, which is integral to our ability to keep growing flowers for you all!

It wasn’t the best dahlia year for us (don’t worry, we have plans), but I’m looking back fondly on the short period in September when, for a few days, we seemed to be swimming in them and I made a few arch pieces. I hung this one temporarily in the harvest shed to get a good look at it, and caught a nice sunset, too.

One thing I love about the flowers we grow here is how they remind me of the time and season they were grown in. Any given year might be a bumper for any given variety, and as we’ve grown we’ve brought more and more types of flowers into the fold. Others, we don’t keep growing - like these dahlias grown from cuttings that we experimented with - but they still tell part of the story of the farm.

While winter does its winter things outside, we’re taking a look at the last year and thinking about the next. This floral comb I made last year got me excited for some things to come: more weddings and more unique perennials to design with!

The snow berries in this piece were from plants we just put in this year. They grew really well, and we know they’ll take off even better in year two. So looking forward to having another special addition for the arrangements and other designs that leave the farm and make it to all of you!

Last weekend, one of the couples we worked with this summer shared some photos from their wedding earlier this year. It’s so wonderful to get a peek at our flowers after they leave the farm and to see the warmth and joy of the celebrations they become a part of. And, as winter closes in, it’s nice to reminisce about summer and its beauty!

Congratulations S and C, and thank you and your photographer for sharing these photos!

If you are someone who is planning an event for next summer and want to include a unique and locally-inspired touch, reach out to us about flowers from our farm. We offer a la carte options for items like wedding and attendants’ bouquets, boutonnières, center pieces, larger arrangements and arch installations, and bud vase collections . We are already booking for next year, and would love to hear from you (you can use the inquiry form that we have linked in our bio)

A new tool has arrived! Thanks to an Brighter Future Fund grant, we were able to purchase a walk-behind Grillo tractor this fall, complete with a flail mower and tiller. We’ll be using the machine to manage our cover crop areas - the flail mower will be able to handle the dense stands of oats, buckwheat and more, and break them down into decomposable bits, which will in turn more readily break down into soil organic matter and available nutrients - as well as open our new perennial shrub and bush plots. All in all, the walk-behind will help make our operation more efficient and sustainable. We can’t wait to put it into action!

Thanks to Joel and the team at .ky for helping us select the right machine and implements, and shipping them up so smoothly from the lower 48. They were great (as always)!

Happy F I F T E E E N T H Birthday! to Oliver, the best farm dog in the world. This year, he became even more passionate about finding the absolute coziest spots all around the field and in the greenhouse.

1. Flowers with mountains. 2. Flowers with sister.

Hard to say which I like better! (And nice that I don’t have to choose)

My sister was up at the very end of our flower season, the last week of September, and she helped me create this autumnal arch spray with some of our last dahlias, amaranth, frosted explosion, and rudbeckia.

If you’re getting married or celebrating another event, and you are looking for flowers that reflect this place and its seasons, this is what we love to do. Our bouquets, arrangements and installation pieces are made using only flowers and foliage from our fields, which means they always showcase the certain time of year (and the place) they were created. Take a look at our website (link in bio) to see more of work, and please feel free to reach out with any questions you might have.

Thinking back to the first bouquet of the summer. It was so fun to make because the design happened so naturally. The had told me that she was looking for pinks, lavenders and apricots, and when I saw this lavender anemone in the field, I knew it would be the perfect focal point. It was easy to harvest other blooms that complimented it nicely.

What was more fun? Meeting these two when they came to the farm to pick up their bouquet and boutonnière. They had an adventurous elopement, and we were happy to contribute to a small part of it.

Our tulip bulbs arrived on Friday! Along with field cleanup and making sure Oliver had his jacket on, bulb planting is an annual marking of fall. We’re getting tucked in and ready for next year!
