From Bare Studs to Beautiful: A Complete Shower Transformation. This bathroom is far from complete but what did it take to get to this point?
A lot happens behind the scenes before the finished tile is installed. Here's a look at the process that went into this custom shower renovation:
🔨 Step 1: Complete Demolition The existing shower was removed down to the wall studs and subfloor, allowing us to start with a clean slate and inspect the structure.
🚿 Step 2: New Plumbing Installation New hot and cold water lines were installed, along with the shower valve and drain system, ensuring everything was properly positioned for the new layout.
🪚 Step 3: Framing & Preparation Any necessary framing adjustments were made to support the new shower system and ensure a solid foundation for the installation.
💧 Step 4: Waterproof Shower System A waterproof shower base and wall backing were installed. Every seam, corner, and pe*******on was properly sealed to protect the home from moisture and water damage.
🛡️ Step 5: Waterproofing Membrane Application Multiple coats of waterproof membrane were applied throughout the shower area, creating a durable moisture barrier behind the tile. Also followed with a pan test where we plug the drain and left 2inchs of water fill the pan and let it hold for 30-40 mins. To ensure there are no leaks.
📏 Step 6: Tile Layout & Planning Careful measurements and layout planning ensured balanced cuts, straight lines, and a professional finished appearance.
🧱 Step 7: Floor Tile Installation The shower floor tile was installed around the drain, maintaining proper slope for drainage and long-term performance.
✨ Step 8: Wall Tile Installation Large-format wall tiles were installed using a professional tile leveling system to achieve flat surfaces, consistent grout joints, and a high-end finish.
🔧 Step 9: Precision Fixture Openings Openings for plumbing fixtures were carefully measured and cut to ensure a clean fit for the final trim components.
🧼 Step 10: Final Finishing Once the tile cures, grout, silicone caulking, fixtures, and trim will be installed to complete the shower and bring everything together.
