Drowning doesn't always end in death — but surviving can mean brain damage, permanent disability, or lifelong health complications.
We often only talk about drowning when it ends in tragedy. But nonfatal drowning — sometimes called "near-drowning" — can leave survivors with hypoxic brain injury and outcomes ranging from minor impacts to severe, permanent disability.
Every drowning incident is serious. Every prevention measure is worth it.
