Handy Werks

Handy Werks Welcome to my business page! Choosing not to be idle in retirement, I created Handy Werks from 50 years of experience in DIY. Call, text, or email for more info!

I would love to help with your “Honey-Can’t-Do" list or "Honey-Doesn’t-Have-Time" list. Handy Werks was created from 50 years of experience in DIY projects. I’ve always had a passion for DIY projects and home repair. I’ve enjoyed using my skills to help family and friends, serving in the church and local mission projects. Throughout the years many have encouraged me to branch out into business. So

, choosing not to be idle in retirement, I would love to share my knowledge and skills working for you. I studied architectural drawing at a high school Career Center. My work experience has been diverse; from drafting in a civil engineering firm, ASE certified automotive mechanic, I-CAR master collision and refinishing technician, working salvage loss settlements for a major insurance company across 7 states, and insurance Property Claims Trainer. I’ve held numerous certifications including; automotive structural repairs, refinishing, welding and I have an Associate in Insurance Certificate (AINS). Rate Terms: This is a part-time venture for me in my retirement so please don't ask if I can do any better on my
rates. There are significant reasons for my rate pricing structure including taxable income compliance, credit card
& banking fees, etc. My rates are as follows:
• $40.00 per hour - Cash (preferred)
• $55.00 per hour - Cash Apps, Personal or Company Check, Credit Card
• Materials as needed

Project Terms: All project requests are vetted based on size, severity and liability exposure. I am NOT a General
Contractor, I am not licensed and do not carry General Liability insurance. I will pass on the project if any type of
high liability exposure exists, i.e., I will do no work behind an electrical box or a plumbing valve, climb a second
story ladder, repair appliances, etc.
• An estimate will be provided and agreed on before starting any project.
• Estimates are free and most estimates can be completed by smart phone with images or video app.
• Unforeseen issues or challenges are common with any home repair or modification. If additional labor
or materials are required to complete the project, I will notify you and seek approval before continuing
for anything more than $25.
• All work is time and material and I charge actual time spent on your project. Charges will be rounded up or down in 15-minute increments after 1 hour minimum. If I estimate 3 hours to complete your project and it takes 2, you’re only charged for 2. No additional Trip Charge for local service sites under 15 minutes’ drive time, labor charged door to door after that.
• There may be a need to leave the project location and drive to the nearest supplier to pick up a part to
complete the project this is billable time.
• It is absolutely ok for you to purchase your project materials, paint, product to be assembled or whatever
you need help with prior to my arrival. In fact, I highly recommended it.
• Estimate and Workorder charges include set-up and clean up time. Payment Terms: Payment due upon job completion. Acceptable payment methods include cash (preferred), cash apps, check or credit Card. Make checks payable to William Masters.

Safety gate part two...

Did it work? Well here is the rest of the story." Once assembled, there was a lot of movement with the Pressure-Mounted Gate panels. The solution I came up with was to move the pressure points and center the gate in the opening to look nice. So I took a few measurements, a little wood and spent time in the shop to make a couple of "pet approved" panels. Have a great weekend, June is around the corner!!

Safety gate part one...

Cleaning up my desktop and had found these project pics. I decided to make it a two-part post because of two different issues. The first issue and pic shows why you can't install a safety gate when the ends of your cabinets don't line up. The second pic is a solution to the weird angle based on a vertical a "French cleat".

Did it work? As famous broadcaster use to say... "Hello Americans, this is Paul Harvey. Stand by for the rest of the story." Second issue and part two next week... Have a safe and wonderful Memorial Day weekend. 🇺🇸

When your daughter calls after a spring storm needing a little "farm fence repair"... Removed fallen tree, replaced one out of three damaged boards, straighten and stappled wire fence back on. Just a "dad thing" 🦸‍♂️🧰🪚🔨

TGIF and happy May Day!! I'm so bad about posting to this page...

A while back, I mentioned to my son David Masters to drop the chainsaw off, he did... and 4 hours later, together this dead pine tree was gone. Chopped up, chipped up and cleaned up. These were the only pics i could come up with. The 10' trunk is now off to the milling station. I like the fresh look on this corner on the house!! Thank you David!!🥰

Shout out to James Wood of Noblesville, Indiana. I don't him, but he patented what is known as a "basin wrench" in 1911. The tool is a time saver when it comes to accessing a kitchen faucet nut on the underside, backside, sink in a cabinet scenario. It's one those tools you never use until a holiday weekend!!😅

Easiest DIY ever... 18" base cabinet maple pull out trays. I could not have built these in the shop and purchased the hardware for less time or money. Start by gathering just a few hands tools and begin unloading. Install provided drawer slide hardware, this cabinet had rear plugs to pull out but there were "L" brackets and spacers provided if needed. Line up the parts, 4 screws, add the trays and boom! 20 minutes later... assembly completed! Message me if your interested in the supplier.
