Happy ! I’m finally free from my neck brace, starting physical therapy today, grateful for a perfect result and thrilled to be back to business. 😁 As you can see, I’m now able to finish up my Hibiscus Vest. (Pattern coming soon.) The lovely, ceramic buttons are from “TodoBunto” on Etsy. I know some folks like to needle felt steeks (although I suspect an adequate job of it would put me on the fast track to Tendonitis City), some whipstitch over the cut edge, some sew in the prettiest ribbons and some prefer to do nothing at all. All fine options, but I like the neatness and security of a folded and slipstitched edge. What about you?

When I said I wanted something from “Aspen”, this is NOT what I had in mind! But, starting Friday 3/6 and lasting for at least the next six weeks, this will be my not-so-stylish neckwear as I recover from multi-level ACDF surgery. “No bending, no lifting, no twisting” for six weeks. (At least they didn’t say “No knitting”!) But, even that will be on hold for a while. Shipments and emails will have to wait, too. Time will pass, I’ll be okay. This is thankfully a mechanical problem, many years in the making, with a well-tested repair process. And I have excellent doctors and splendid helpers - I’m very fortunate! Generally, I like keeping this page focused on my little knitting business, not my personal life. But, for the first time since 2002, this means things with my work will come to a grinding halt and I can’t tell you exactly when it will all be back online. So, if you have burning questions or are counting on casting on with yarn from me anytime soon, now is the time! My website will continue to take orders (and you can always get pdfs) but, come Friday, shipping and email will be delayed until you hear from me again. Hopefully soon, we’ll see! Prayers, good vibes and tips from knitters who have gone through this are all gratefully appreciated. ❤️ Wish me luck!😘

New release! My “Wild Iris Hat” knitting design. The bottom is knit in Fair Isle-style stranded garter stitch; the main portion is knit using three colors per round in more of a Norwegian or Latvian style. Watch my video to see how easy it really is! I used a total of four colors of DK weight Felted Tweed yarn was. The 7-page pdf is sold on my website and through Ravelry. The pattern gives you all the particulars for managing floats using the technique I’ve explained in my YouTube video (see links in profile.)

Last night was the first outing for my new “Wild Iris” hat design. The checkered brim is knit in stranded garter stitch, something you can occasionally find in Fair Isle knitting. The main portion is worked in stranded knitting using three colors per round, something that (gasp) violates the two-colors-per-round “rule” of Fair Isle knitting. Some might call it Norwegian, or Latvian, or simply Stranded. I call it “Fun”! Interestingly, using three colors per round is truly just as simple as combining two ways of working two-colored knitting as you can see in my youtube video, “Knitting with Three Colors and Catching Long Floats”. (See my linktr.ee or the video tab on my website.) I used a total of four colors of DK weight yarn. Pattern will be released next week. Have a wonderful weekend!😘

New Release! I just published my “Allium Pullover” design. (Cookie helped.) The pdf is 31 pages long, not because it is difficult but because it is extensively explained. It includes six sizes, all sorts of options, 27 photos and 9 pages of what I call “layouts” - stitch-by-stitch maps of the more involved areas that make following along dramatically easier. There’s a ton of info about the design on the “Knitting Patterns” page of my website (see profile) where you can buy the pdf. You can also purchase yarn packs in the same Rowan Felted Tweed DK wool blend colors I used on my “Yarn Packs” page. The pattern is also available through Ravelry. A glorious shipment of Spindrift waltzed into my arms this week! 😃 Everyone on the back ordered “Poppy” list will have their yarn packs shortly (if not already.) There’s even enough for several more packs of all my vest designs, too. Yippee!! Yes, it really is a happy around here. ☺️ Have a splendid weekend! 😘
