Added 2 pairs of custom cut doors, jambs, and trim to these odd sized closet openings that used to have old funky sliders. Very nice reveals (gaps) all the way around make a door installation sweet and tight vs. weak and lame.

I'm at the point now where I often leave the straight edge fence and hinge jigs in the shop in favor of free-handing most of my cuts and router work. This comes after several decades of practice and thousands of doors.

I have developed a patient and steady hand along with good focus and a knowledge of the tools, mmmmkay.

This is really cool! A new customer, who immigrated from Bulgaria turned out to be a comedy fan. While I was installing his door he watched a bunch of my videos then told me that my Ivan The Desirable's Russian accent is spot on. Nothing better than dialect validation from someone who grew up behind the iron curtain!

At my new old house I built a 12'×22' deck for my new 10'×16' workshop. Excited about delivery today! I will be building a ramp in the front, among other additions. Video to follow on Diary of a Handyman!

A bunch of pictures of a deck/platform that I'm building at my new old house.

I'm putting a new shed on this platform that will become my new workshop.

As you can see Lewie and Zucca love to hang around while I'm working in the yard. Do they love Daddy or just want me to not forget how hungry they are. My boys are always starving.

Phases of detailed carpentry for a new entry system installation:

1) Removal of old entry system.
2) Modify rough opening to fit new system in place with 1/4" clearance at top and sides.
3) Install new entry frame and jamb with sidelights.
4) Hang door and adjust to fit without resistance.
5) Install locks and hardware.
6) Add interior and exterior trim using multiple layers to achieve seamless look and hide old flaws.

8) Prime and paint door and trim.

Wtf is this guy doing? Just look at that contraption! Remember the game, Mouse Trap? That's what this s**t looks like.

Hi, my name is Tommy Highland and I say yes to some pretty tricky projects knowing full well that I'm going to pull some hokey s**t in order to get it done economically for my customers.

Today I removed a bunch of rotten wood trim from this giant arched window and replaced it with a bunch of Azek. It only took a total of 5 hours doing it this way compared to $thousands$ to rent a boom lift.

In my defense, I am comfortable at heights and a pretty good rigger of scaffold contraptions AND I was the only one on the damn thing.

Interesting factoid: my paint bucket broke just as I was finishing and dumped a bunch of white paint on the house, the deck, the windows, and myself. It took me 2 and a half hours to clean up the mess. It was kind of comical.

When the bucket broke and tipped over it happened in slow motion and my exact words were, "Nooo oh noooo, mo********er nooooooo."
