This project involved an addition and renovation to a 50 year old split level residence. The goal for the project was to provide a new kitchen and to update and reconfigure the interior spaces of the house. Open and light filled spaces were desired. A modern kitchen was provided for the chef. The main entry was reconfigured, invigorating the house by connecting the new work with the existing space. Tuscan columns were used to frame the opening to the new addition and also created a linear passage/library that connected the entry and the new kitchen space. The new space contained a modern kitchen with maple cabinets, soapstone counters and stainless steel appliances and an informal dining area with a separate adjacent entry.

Master planning and extensive renovation of a 105 year old, 3,200 square foot home in Wyndmoor originally built to house the overseers of the Stotesbury estate. The project goal was to update and transform the spaces to meet today’s expanding needs while maintaining the character of the original home. Several phases are planned. During phase one, the interior plaster systems were removed and replaced with new wall surfaces. A contemproary kitchen with stainless steel appliances and natural finish maple cabinets and two new bathrooms were incorporated. Lighting, electrical, audio visual, security and fire systems were upgraded to contemporary standards. The second phase includes an expanded master suite with walk-in closet , custom built-ins and bathroom with carrera marble finish and walk-in shower. To minimize expenses and rework, the necessary mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems for the later phases were incorporated in the first phase.

The Jobecca Technology Group approached Curtis Architecture + Design when the company decided to move from their current location in the historic Daniel Larue House into a larger office building. Jobecca is a technology consulting business specializing in systems design, implementation and support. Their original space is typical of houses built 100-200 years ago with many small rooms and was not consistent with the firm’s high tech image. The new space is quite a contrast. Located in a large 1850’s mill building called the Canal Works in the revitalized businesses district in Bristol, Pennsylvania, the 90,000 square foot mill was adapted and reused as office space. The space has 13’ ceilings with large, oversized chestnut beams, columns and still has the original wood floors.
