Some of the best design inspiration doesn’t come from a showroom.

Summer is the perfect time to explore local art festivals, outdoor exhibitions, and community art shows. Beyond being a wonderful way to spend an afternoon, these events offer the opportunity to discover emerging artists, appreciate different perspectives, and reconnect with the creativity that surrounds us every day.

As a designer, I often find inspiration in unexpected places—a striking use of color, an expressive brushstroke, or the story behind a handmade piece.

Supporting local artists not only enriches our communities but reminds us that beauty and craftsmanship still matter deeply. My favorite artist this show was veronicagrankina

Summer often invites a slower pace—and with it, the opportunity to return to the books that inspire us to see beauty differently.

✈️ The Monocle Book of Italy - because some of the best lessons in design are found through travel, culture, and a strong sense of place. The best design books do more than showcase beautiful rooms. They encourage us to slow down, observe more carefully, and think more intentionally about the way we live.

Great design isn’t only about aesthetics. It’s about creating environments that evolve alongside our routines, priorities, and aspirations.

Sometimes the most meaningful transformations aren’t dramatic renovations. They’re thoughtful refinements that help a home feel more aligned with the people living within it.

One of the things I love most about this industry is that there is always something new to discover.

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of attending the opening of the beautiful Devon Tile & Design Studio at the Navy Yard. It was wonderful to reconnect with colleagues, meet new industry friends, and explore the studio’s impressive collection of materials and surfaces.

One presentation that particularly resonated with me was a new Japanese tile collection inspired by the Wabi-Sabi philosophy-an aesthetic that celebrates the beauty of imperfection, transience, and simplicity. A thoughtful reminder that beauty often lies in authenticity rather than perfection.

I was also fascinated by an innovative tile collection designed to help neutralize everyday odors-from pets and food to coffee and smoke. The possibility of combining beauty, functionality, and wellness in such an elegant way is truly exciting.

Staying curious and informed about new materials, technologies, and craftsmanship is an important part of what allows us to create thoughtful, highly personalized environments for our clients.

Needless to say, I left inspired-and already imagining the possibilities. Thank you for the wonderful party.

This Memorial Day, I’m grateful for the meaning of home.

As an interior designer, I create spaces of comfort and connection-but today, I’m reminded that those spaces are possible because of the sacrifices made by so many.
